How does the NHL determine which teams go over to Europe to play in the exhibitions and then their season openers? Florida seems like an odd team to go over, I'd expect the bigger market teams that have wider followings in Europe.

^I'm thinking teams with quite a few European players might go as well.

Thats what I was thinking as well, however, florida has only one Fin on their roster. With the number of Czechs on their team, youd think that they would schedule their exhibitions there.

Either way, my Swedish Elitserien team got their balls kicked in earlier today by the Blues.

Balsillie loses, rejected by the judge with prejudice, meaning he cannot rebid for the team. Says he will not appeal decision.

Yotes staying put in Glendale, for the near future at least.

I was watching Swingers for the 39th time last night and this scene got me thinking, "Is this the best non-Slapshot hockey scene in movie history?"

Prediction: I think Capitals will do bad at first since they have Theodore starting again. After that, they will hit the NHL's longest regular season win streak and playoff win streak.

haha I watched Swingers like 2 days ago, classic scene

I'm pumped, planning to go home after work, crack a few brews, and watch hockey all night long. With the free TWC Center Ice preview I'll probably be flipping back and forth. I kind of want to see what the new O in Montreal does with the new D in Toronto.

oh and I guess I'll play along:

I like steviewonder's picks. A lot of movement from last year's results. I don't think Phoenix is going to be as shitty as people think they will just because of the shit going down. Colorado will be a shit ton worse.

I almost wish I was a Flames fan, I'd own one. They are badass as shit.

And just so I don't get called out, I realize they are based on Atlanta Flames jerseys before they became Calgary Flames jerseys.

EDIT:

^ I think it would be awesome if they did something this year. I'm probably amongst the biggest Foppa fans out there. I own a Nordiques jersey. My first favorite team was the Nordiques circa 90 when I was like 8 because I picked a team at random nobody else liked. I watched as they SWEPT THE FLORIDA PANTHERS in 4 games in the 96 finals, in the third overtime.

osgood will have a good year, play him

detroit was terrible on defense last year and will heavily improve on that most likely, since they don't "seem" to have as much firepower this year, but we'll see about that as well

It took less than 60 minutes for disaster to strike the Habs this season.

Quote :
"Montreal Canadiens defenceman Andrei Markov will be out 3-4 months with a torn tendon that he suffered on opening night. The veteran defenceman suffered the injury during a collision with goalie Carey Price in the third period of Thursday night's win over the Maple Leafs."
