The 30 for 30 films started qualifying as episodes the moment people started calling them episodes.

I could care less what tgl says.

Irregardless!

Yeah the Duke lacrosse one last night was solid. Mike NiFong can choke on a dick. The overreaction of the media to that story with no facts to back it up is similar to a lot of stuff we see today.

Had to cut it off halfway through the episode. I watched probably the first hour with my girlfriend, who is extremely liberal, a self proclaimed feminist who grew up in durham and attended UNC. She saw nothing wrong with the way the coach was treated, she was surprised Jay Bilas took to defending the team before due process took place, and she thought they were guilty even after the DNA evidence came clear... Am I out of line for thinking she's super biased?

my thoughts on this case have alway been that i have no doubt that those duke lacrosse players were assholes. but being assholes isn't against the law.

I dump her ass for being that obtuse. The fucking stripper later recanted her story about being raped. Amazing at how people can convince themselves of the truth. Just like Trump and Hillary, two habitable liars who have convinced themselves they are perfect.

^I have no idea why she thinks any form of sexual assault took place. The more I read into this (see wikipedia and the video from my last post), the more I think she knows nothing about this case. She wasn't in college when this scandal occurred, I think/hope she forgot most of the facts surrounding this case.

Interesting to read TWW's OG thread on this.

I can see how liberals would hate that documentary. It really doesn't fit their world view. But it's a good example of what happens when SJWs and political correctness can drive their own agenda.

The Duke lacrosse scandal is effectively the same story as the Rolling Stone "Rape on Campus" article about the UVa fraternity.

Think a lot of the issue is people turn individual events into causes, and they have these other events that did happen that is why they turn it into a cause...and then the event does not fit the cause. The O.J. Simpson Trial for sports figures is probably the ultimate of this. For a lot of people it didn't matter if O.J. killed Nicole or not, the verdict was a victory for the cause.

Jon Stewart at the time I remember had a good bit making fun of Nancy Grace's coverage of this when they came out and said the charges were without basis.

Phi Slama Jama coming in October. This is going to be the other side of the story about the Houston teams of the early 80s. It's going to be like what they did with the USSR Olympic hockey team when they told their side of the story about the miracle on ice.

^No, I'm smart enough to know it is fake. I'll stick to watching real combat sports.

While it's true that professional wrestling is not a sport, Ric Flair was an amateur wrestler and they are making a 30 for 30 film on him, which is what this thread is about.

To say you watch "real combat sports" as a response to professional wrestling is as dumb as saying, "nah, I watch real history" when someone asks about Game of Thrones.

Nothing in Game of Thrones really happened, but that doesn't make it less entertaining than The Civil War. I like MMA, but the average WWE PPV match is more entertaining than the average MMA fight. There's a place for both, because they're not even close to the same thing.

Even if it is about his time as a fake wrestler, I'd still watch. Ric Flair is an interesting person and can put on a good show.

I'd watch a documentary about Rick Flair fake wrestling. I'd watch a documentary just about how he propelled the Hurricanes to a cup.

And in all fairness, I'd also watch a documentary just about Randy Savage doing slim jim commercials.

Did anyone else watch "This Was the XFL" last night? That was pretty interesting. It changed the way we watch sports at home. It was the first league to use a sky cam and put a microphone on players/coaches.

i heard it was pretty disappointing, which isn't surprising since it was directed by dick ebersol's son. and dick ebersol was vince mcmahon's partner in the shitty football league.

i think bill simmons absence is definitely felt in the 30 for 30 series. if he was still around i seriously doubt charlie ebersol would have been the one making an XFL film.

He was one of the people interviewed off and on throughout the show. It was pretty interesting. I didn't realize they flew an XFL blimp over an NFL game in Oakland only to have it crash a few miles way. LOL!

Fun fact. I submitted a bid to buy hehateme.Com about 6 months ago for $75. I was willing to double that.

Thought it'd be a cool website to run.

They hit me back with like a $2,799 price tag to buy it. I had to decline unfortunately. Mice and men and all that
