Yeah let us not compare our customer retention e-wangs or I'll bust out my DirecTV and Sprint bills. I think I pay 29.99 for 8Mb/512k with suddenlink without any strings. Since it's 3 doods we have 12Mb/768k @ 54.95 though.

the sad part is the ridiculous prices for business accountsit's like $159 for 5x1.5 we were paying $799 for a badass connection but in this whole "cost savings" thing people decided we didn't need to be playing on tdub and looking at porn all day

I would rather use carrier pigeons than EVER deal with Earthlink again. Far and away the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Ever. Ever ever.

I dont' have roommates. Believe it or not its easy to get free stuff from TWC. I basically got fed up with TWC and their high rates. So i called and disconnected all services. Returned modem to store. One day i decided to see if they had actually turned off the service. NOPE. Still get Basic\Standard cable and my old RR modem pick up internet. Im sure this is a mistake on their part and will be corrected once they do an audit, but hey.......its been 3 months and counting.
10/8/2010 7:49:05 AM
I just canceled all my TWC stuff last month and returned everything. Yet they still tried to bill me for this month. ASSCLOWNS! They have the best service ever! /end rant
10/8/2010 1:15:38 PM
I just called to cancel the sports tier I picked up to watch two state football games (ECU being the last, I forget the first) and they are giving me my RR turbo for free for a year. For no reason. I hadn't mentioned anything about it. Weird, but awesome.
10/18/2010 4:09:05 PM
^Was that instead of cancelling the sports package or in addition to?
10/18/2010 4:38:38 PM
In addition to. The package was only like $5/month, I was paying $10 for RR turbo, so it'll be another $15 off my bill. Maybe he thought I was just cancelling packages because I thought cable was getting too expensive, not because I don't need to watch anything else on those channels this year.

I've found being nice/cordial with them actually wasn't helpful. I had to start sounding irritated and annoyed that I was leaving to dish/at&t that they finally gave me something around what I was asking. Also, it seems like it's pretty much par for the course to bargain with their retention department to get a better rate as evan said earlier. It also depends on the particular person you speak to so if you can't get a good deal, call back later and talk to someone else.I went from basic cable/standard RR a few weeks ago at $85 (downgraded from digital/dvr a year back at the end of the "promotion") and at the end of this "promotion" it shot up to $110. Called customer service 3 different times about cutting off service completely before the guy offered RR turbo and basic cable for $75. Not as great as evan's deal but I really don't watch enough TV other than comedy central, spike, fx, and a half dozen other channels that I couldn't get OTA.Bottom line: Call customer retention (you'll have to go thru customer service first) to complain about leaving, if they ask what time you want your service cut off, call back later. You'll eventually get a decent deal.[Edited on October 19, 2010 at 4:32 PM. Reason : .]

We have basic cable (not even digital) and basic RR. It just jumped to $115/month from $78. I just called and "the best he could do" was $104/month. Guess we'll try again soon.
