e-shame is a myth

i wonder if when the telephone came out, did people feel ashamed to call somebody on the phone rather than take the donkey into town to talk to somebody face to face

it's 2009. everybody uses the internet. we can stop pretending it's all a bunch of dweebs picking their noses and looking at star trek porn

eharmony is like the super-secret christian dating coalition that rejects anyone who isn't a WASP

match.com gets old quick because the people are all flakes, but when you actually do go on a date, they tend to be looney

plentyoffish I don't know about - I joined, I saw horrible user experience, and I decided to leave intertron dating alone for a while

Match you find a lot of UNC, NCSU and Duke students and grad students

POF has a lot of trash, but a few interesting people

eHarmony I dont have experience, and their commercials annoy me

My BFF is dating some guy she met off of okcupid.com

I'm just glad I met someone before leaving college so I didn't have to waste my time on dating websites

if you go to meet a girl off the internet, there are 3 most likely senarios:

A) you meet said chick, but then she steals your car and your clothes, leaving you to have to walk home in a glazed doughnut costume

B) chick's got a dick yo

C) Hi, im chris hansen, why dont you have a seat over there

Match was not great for me. I met better guys IRL bc the guys I'm attracted to online tend to have too much in common with me. It was like dating myself. Also, it's almost impossible to judge physical chemistry from pics online. I met a lot of guys who misrepresented themselves in pics.

If I wanted a boy version of myself, then I'd be better off staying home and double clicking my mouse. Less stress.

Interesting story. I joined match.com and definitely came to the conclusion that it's loaded with flakes. Went on a few dates with some of them. Had a LOT of no-replies to emails sent.

But the craziest shit...I ended up going to a Christmas party one weekend at somebody's house and hooked up with this one girl I met there (turned out to be her house). Not that great looking, but when you're in a dry spell, who cares? Several weekends of booty calls later, thinks I, this chick looks familiar. Went back to Match and checked out some people I had emailed. Yep. She was one that had e-dissed me months before. And her profile pic was WAY hotter than she was. Go figure.

If you've got decent social skills and a good network of friends and acquaintances, then you don't need match.

^^ Agreed. If you can find a date IRL, don't bother with match.

Internet dating is, however, entertaining. I've dated some guys who could totally be my best friend. Great personalities. I'm just not attracted to them. For example, the last guy I dated from match was hilarious. He surfs and wakeboards--sometimes in costume. This weekend he went wakeskating in his old band costume and put some hilarious pics of it on facebook. He's got an amazing personality. But am I attracted to him? Nope.

I guess it depends on your standards. Perhaps mine are too high. But if you don't have crazy standards, then you'll probably be fine.

if you're just looking for fun, go with okcupid. it's free, there's a ton of people on there, tho yes, the majority that are even worth looking at twice usually aren't worth any more than a few evenings of your time.

I'd be too scared of the difference in their profile pictures and what they look like in real life.

I know I've seen pictures of girls on facebook and I'll be like, "damn she's fine." Then see them in person and go, "wtf happened?" The camera is a liar.

^^^ I won't marry you. You told me you wear women's clothing. I bet you'll stretch out my tube tops. Hell to the no.

And I don't know if there's anything wrong with high standards. I just want to be with a guy who brings out the best qualities in me. Where I look forward to seeing them and I want to make them happy and I want to take better care of myself for them. It's hard to do that when you're not really that into the guy.

^^ And yes, you do get veto rights. Why didn't you veto Chris? Haha.
