yeah they're talking about tww, but they're either deliberately lying to ignorant freshmen or they are ignorant freshmen.

tww is the original, and the template for all the others. but we all know that. i say we fuck wolfwall up. hack it to hell.

ncsu computer use policies for students. i'm just guessing here.

even if it's not breaking any rule, it's clearly unethical and a lame way to get traffic to your site no site has ever been spammed into success

if you hover Your Links : NCSU Links you will find TWW at the bottom.

this site doesn't even have a forum, shit they can have it as their "homepage"

slap a button, or several that lead to TWW and everything is gravy

it is kinda slick how they tied all the relevant NCSU links together along with WRAL and the Technician's headlines... hell you should even inquire as to integrate the 2 sites more, as in, that one's the students "homepage" and this the primary forum. = flood of new users.

though that email is hilarious

tww is original...

In the email he is talking about campuslive.com (website for nc state is http://www.campuslive.com/ncstate). Back a few months ago there was an article in the Technician about it.

I used the site for about a week, and switched back to forthepack.com. The only thing I do like about it is how you can change the background and put up whoever you like....for instance Adriana Lima

anyways here's the article

New Web site provides ‘one-stop shop’ for students

A New Addition to N.C. State’s Virtual World
New Web site provides ‘one stop shop’ for students
Sneha Patel ?Correspondent
A relatively new addition to N.C. State’s virtual world is the CampusLIVE website. Launched only about three weeks ago, the site intends to provide a "one-stop shop" for students, according to Boris Revsin, the co-founder of the CampusLIVE Web site.
This Web site, which is meant to be set as a homepage, includes several links to popular pages like Twitter, Rate My Professor, Pandora Radio, Facebook, and many major e-mail providers like Gmail and Yahoo Mail.
It provides links to N.C. State specific sites as well, like MyPack Portal, GoPack.com and Vista. When set as a homepage, Revsin says this will save students the hassle of checking several different Web page every morning.
Other things which are included are restaurant reviews for students to find a place to eat, local television listings, local weather forecasts and movie timings for nearby theaters.
The Web site is a project that was created by college students from University of Massachusetts at Amherst in an attempt to simplify student life and currently spans 87 campuses across the country.
According to Revsin, before this site is launched at any campus, a team is sent down and surveys the area and finds out where the students are eating and where they enjoy going. This is all done in coordination with the student campus representative. This information is then used to create a site for students to use that contains pertinent information.
However, when the site was created for N.C. State, there weren’t any students on the team. Students can now enter input for missing links or apply to be a Campus Representative.
There are “dozens of representatives” across the country, according to Boris Revsin, co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of CampusLIVE, and “currently looking to hire N.C. State students in representative positions.”
According to Jeannene Lang, a freshman in English, “the fact that N.C. State students have been given input doesn’t bother me,” she said, “only because it’s all stuff that I already used, just in one place.”
Restaurant reviews and hours of operation are also available on the site. The listing is provided free but the site generates profit through advertising.
The advertising revenue covers the site's operating costs.
“All the employees at CampusLIVE are 21-23 years old,” Revsin said, “so this isn’t some big corporation giant. We’re all student entrepreneurs working on a budget.”
After about one semester, the entrepreneur group begins to hire interns at each of the campuses. The interns help keep up with the office side of the site, and are paid.
None of the links that are featured on the website pay CampusLIVE, Revsin said, but certain sites such as Fandango and TvGuide have created partnerships with CampusLIVE.
Revsin said about 500 students submitted their e-mail addresses during New Student orientation and received e-mail notifications about the site.
The site now averages about 3,000 hits daily and has almost 1,000 registered users.
Erin Kamm, a freshman in animal science, received notification through e-mail.
“I find this site useful, only because it really does shorten the time that I’m on the Internet. Everything is just in one place,” she said.
According to Revsin, 3,000 hits in three weeks is a good number due to the size of the campus. He said, “Our goal is to have 10,000 hits daily by the end of October.”"

egads, that "wolfwall" site is a fucking horrid jumble of epilepsy-inducing graphics.

and its amusing to see their "student organizations" link: they have exactly two:

      Wolfpack Club

      and

      Campus Crusade for Christ

yeah, they're going to do well.

This website is ridiculous. They simply made a basic website for their school and then copied it to make all the rest of the websites. If you want to see an original website for an NC State homepage, made by an NC State student FOR NC state students, check wolfwall.com. This is a much better website, and is much more useful. I received an email notification about campuslive, and I NEVER signed up during orientation or any other time to receive any or more information, so I dont know how much of that is even true."

ok, so this person is mentioned on http://wolfwall.com/about.html so clearly they are gonna be biased. and i'm pretty sure wolfwall is using a joomla template or something so the original website claim is silly. they both do exactly the same thing, and neither are very useful to begin with. and wolfwall spammed a bunch of people too. WEAK

holy shit thats a lot of animation. mainly they need to keep the "wolfwall news" animation from zipping across the screen every 2 seconds..or worst case if they wanna keep annoying people with it then provide a pause button. a global pause would be good too.

and yeah it's not related to tww at all. it's just a pretty link dump.

so if they chose tww as some sort of "official" nc state messageboard why is everyone bitching?

neither thewolfweb.com nor brentroad.com are registerd to anyone in Amherst Mass...further, neither is partyincollege.com (if they were somehow implying that PIC came before TWW)

not sure what site they're referring to in the OP
