Where do you like to go?

I used to go to East Village frequently in my college era, but now I'm usually somewhere near Hargett or Martin street.

dude, now that you say that (smartass) I can see how that sounded really...yuppy.

I'm not a yuppy dude. Just noticed I don't go to the same bars as I used to. Raleigh has a lot going on.

I remember people used to complain about there being nothing to do in Raleigh. When I went to ECU- there wasn't SHIT to do in Greenville. Now that's having nothing to do (except get retarded all the time).

Raleigh times isn't really all that hip, it's just better food and beer.

Saucer, Mitch's, Mac's and The Goat are my favs. 42nd St has a great beer selection, though the bar there is cougar central.

I used to go to EV in college when I was looking for some loose and easy...

These days I normally go to either Boylan Bridge, Raleigh Times, or The Hive. Village Draft house if I'm slumming. Sometime Tobacco Road for pre-gaming.

42nd St. if they've got a good band.

EV, the times, jackpot, bada are pretty much my regulars when i'm in raleigh

p.s. 42nd street rarely has good bands. i was going to put "never" but i put rarely just to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I frequent Hibernian, Boylan Bridge, Busy Bee, and Napper Tandies.

It's nice to be walking distance from Gwood South

i used to love raleigh times, but it's just too much to deal with now... that whole street has become a human traffic jam... a lot of those places downtown have just become too crowded and loud for a guy like me who likes a dark watering hole with a rock and roll jukebox...

i like saucer during the day, the borough early evening... close out at alibi if i feel like being filthy...

foundation is a good variant... once in a blue moon i'll go to ruckus on the weekend during the day

i was drinking at the Bavarian Brathaus with my brother the other month and that was pretty sweet

i don't play glenwood anymore

i've retreated back to PR as my "old faithful"... mitch's has just pissed me off the past 3-4 years with what seems to be a lack of actually wanting post-6pm customers

past couple of weekends we've ended up at the bada bar

now that I live in cary, I wish there was a good bar closer to my house - suggestions?

begonias, I grew up in the Cary area, so there aren't nearly as many good bars as Raleigh, but Sunset Grille is one of my faves. I also have heard lots of good things about Mac's Tavern. I was there once & I can't complain.

In college, EV was my spot! haha

Durham: the Pinhook or the Federal, depending on the night.

Raleigh: Mitch's, the Times, or occasionally the Ale House place in Cameron Village.

^^^I'll second Sunset Grille. There's also Woody's when theres a game on. There's a crappy little sports bar at Cary Parkway and High House called the Back 9 Pub that I kind of like too, half priced apps on Sundays.

+1

and it's literally like half a mile from my house.

as far as raleigh goes, my favorites are the times and saucer... but havana is just about as chill of a bar as there is.

Raleigh: Mitch's, Hibernian
Durham: City Beverage (haven't lived there long enough to really know anywhere else good)
Chapel Hill: The Lantern, West End, Milltown (yes technically Carrboro I know)

^ I have to also throw in Whiskey in Durham on Thursdays, during live jazz night, and
Bull McCabe's on a non-trivia night. Whiskey can be kind of pretentious with a dress code,
but it cards anyone who looks "college-age"- thereby keeping the place appealing to an older clientele. I appreciate this, being a few years older now.

I didn't like Sunset Grille (plus they had a B sanitation grade last time I was there) or Back 9 Pub. I guess I'm doomed to drive all the way downtown.

Raleigh: The Times, Woody's, Busy Bee, Flying Saucer (every night except Monday), Village Draft House, The Pit (more of a restaurant but they have excellent cocktails and a really good beer selection)
Durham: The Federal, Tyler's Taproom, Dain's Place
Chapel Hill/Carrboro: Milltown

A B Sanitation grade? Whaaaaa? nooo! not sunset grille! man, i am so paranoid about sanitation grades. It's been awhile since the last time I went to Sunset grille...I'd say at least a year...cuz I know I wouldn't have eaten there had I seen that big, fat B! haha

the bar @ bada
ruckus
saucer
EV
busy bee
village draft house

other than that, it is pretty much only if someone is going out there that wants me to meet up with them (there are a few bars I won't go to though- like buckhead, whitecolor, ess, etc...) and I tend to avoid glenwood south if I can

[Edited on October 16, 2009 at 1:23 PM. Reason : forgot about the draft house]
