Are you nuts? We already invaded Somalia, several times. The outgoing regime was put there at our insistence. And, BTW, it was the act of throwing out the regime we imposed that brought the Islamists to power in Somalia.

That said, that the previous half-dozen interventions turned out badly, leaving Somalia significantly worse each time, is not proof that the next invasion would not be welcomed as liberators.

Terrorists in afghanistan pose no threat to american soil and domestic terrorism is most efficiently combated by domestic agencies and not marching armies. proof? look at how many terrorist attacks have been thrawrted on american soil since we beefed up domestic counter terrorism. Your claim is probably that if we fight them over there they won't make it over here but the pudding shows thats far from the case. Several cells have operated on our soil easily after 9/11 but none have been able to carry out an attack.

Also, sucessfully building a government in Afghanistan doesn't come close to ending terrorism, its not even real progress.

We don't have any real interests in that part of the world going forward. Its not like they might up and invade china in the future. Nation building sounds good and all but not when you're going broke and why not pick an African nation that has people much more in need of our help?
