Someone gave me a 2.5in sata HD to look at thinking its dead. Its a travelstar type external.
When I first looked at it, it turned on, but would spin up, click and repeat. Held a certain way I got it to quit and actually work (computer could see it then, wouldnt detect it before this).
Tried again later, wouldnt turn on. Put the drive in another enclosure, turns on fine.
So TWW, think its dead? or the logic board on its original external is fubar? Im lost as the click to me makes me think HD but since it didnt work 2nd time but now does on mine is a logic board connector issue. 10/21/2009 3:14:12 PM |

head is moving off the platters. You might could fix it if you reaaaaaally wanted to, but its probably cheaper to just get a new one and get off all the data you can. Turn it whatever sidewise works and leave it that way while you get the data off. 10/21/2009 3:22:01 PM |
