i'm not sure what you would expect him to do.... the guy gives several speeches a week, and it's not like he writes them himself, much less memorizes them, right? So, if you had to give your 4th speech in as many days, which you probably proofread on the plane on the way to Boston, and were assured that you would be able to read it once you got there, i'm sure you would be able to pick it up on the fly when your prompter went down?

Obama's deer-in-the-headlights look there is priceless. I haven't seen orbs that vacant since Dan Quayle.

I'm disinclined to give Obama shit about this. But he could simply have had a written copy of the speech before him, too, yes? I mean, other speakers seem to manage this type of occasional snafu without major hiccups.

Yeah all it was was a stutter...but I seem to recall this being a bigger deal under the previous administration, when it should've been equally as irrelevant

Bushisms were funny though. This is just cracking on the dude for stuttering.

no, this is actually cracking on him for being so dependent on a teleprompter that he can't complete a sentence without it

do I need to link to the newspaper articles and commentaries from the media outlets that proclaim that we have never had a president as bright or eloquent as President Obama?

just for comparison, let's bring up the reaction of a hated individual by the MSM when her teleprompter went out and she had to continue the speech...without pause, waver, or "stutter"

can you seriously not put this in context?
OK, imagine this - you are standing at a podium, reading a 30 minute speech off a prompter or cue cards or notes or whatever. A speech you didn't write yourself, which you've probably read over a time or two and made suggestions, but you have made no effort to memorize because, hey - you can just read it instead! So in mid-sentence, your prompt dies, what the fuck would you do? Do you seriously expect anybody to flow directly from a scripted speech into an extemporaneous talk in mid-sentence with no preparation?

anyway. i've seen obama talk at length to a crowd without a teleprompter or notes and he did just fine.

Bushism had a hint of Yogi Berra in them. They were funny. Most of them didn't directly indicate that Bush was a moron. Those that did were teleprompter-less, anyway.

Look at Obama during the debates w/o the teleprompter-- did he have difficulty completing sentences? If anything, all these "OMG STUDDER" moments only demonstrate that he actually isn't all that great at reading off of a teleprompter.

When Obama starts stuttering and stammering entirely through every speech, it'll be a valid retort.

I'm not one to defend the man but he's light years ahead of Bush in the public speaking department.

Foreign policy... not so much.
