any sort of old stereo receiver will work, as long as it works. I'd love to have some sort of sound in my classroom, but being in (and paying for) full time grad school has limited my available funds!

I would be most appreciative for any old junk you have laying around... if you have speakers, that would be wonderful too!

I might have something for you. i think it works, but I havent used it in a year or 3. I was looking at it yesterday thinking to myself "man, i need to get rid of this thing just to clear out some space". If I remember right, the thing thats iffy about it is that the volume knob connection is a little static-ey... maybe just needs some cleaning.. I dont know. But hey, it's free.

That's usually the problem when the volume knob has static. Cleaning it or spinning it around a lot should fix it.
