The Zombie Nation Kernkraft 400 song was first played at soccer and hockey games after goals were scored. Wake Forest was the first college team I ever heard use it, but that was at least 2-3 years after I had heard it at hockey games. The first time I heard it I was at the Independence Arena (now Bojangles' Coliseum) for a Charlotte Checkers game, then I started hearing it played during NHL and European soccer games.

Ha they played Zombie Nation for like 10 or 12 minutes at Bryant-Denny/Alabama yesterday (waiting on opening kickoff) while Tennessee's headset's didn't work. After about 8 minutes or so the announcer made a comment on how much they hated that song.

For some reason, every time I try to come up with the tune of that zombie nation song in my head, I end up getting Seven Nation Army (by The White Stripes), even though I know that's not actually it... Possibly because they are similarly easy for large crowds to shout/hum along with (though I don't recall having ever actually heard white stripes played at a sporting event).

I never said it was new, though it was new to me, as I don't listen to that type of shit. and though it may have been played in other sports, of which I don't watch, it is now an epidemic in the football world, as I've heard it during the vast majority of football games recently (aside from NCSU). so saying every football game was an exaggeration... but you get the point.
