Anyway, I LOL at people who get on and are all like "OMG, you still use AIM?!?!". I have a laptop that's on all the time. I am normally in front of it. I see no reason to not let it run in the background.

I used Pidgin for awhile, but with my apartment's fucked up internet it would never automatically reconnect from hiccups in the connection. Otherwise it seemed fine, but I had to switch to AIM because it would make conversations nearly impossible
