Quote : | "On Thursday, November 5 at noon in the Brickyard, CNN will host a rally for NC State alum Doc Hendley. Doc was featured on the weekly spot "CNN Heroes" earlier this year for his project "Wine to Water," which provides clean water to people in developing countries through funds raised at wine tasting events. Because of the success and impact of his work, CNN has named Doc one of the 10 finalists to be considered for the "CNN Hero of the Year" award. The rally is an opportunity to welcome Doc home and encourage the community to vote for him for this award. Please come out and show your support for a fellow Wolfpacker." |

Wow. Reading about all the amazing things these heroes are doing makes me feel kind of self-absorbed and worthless.
But it's really awesome the impact they're having.

I went to high school with him. saw this on facebook, the guy definitely is a different person than he was in high school, I never would have guessed he'd be doing something like this. He was basically like wooderson from dazed and confused.
But it's pretty fucking awesome what he's doing now. It's easy to demand that the government help people, but people who actually dedicate a significant part of their lives for the benefit of others are way too rare. 11/4/2009 6:16:06 PM |

^Voting goes through mid-November.
When I read the N&O article on this, I was shocked by how many people die of cholera and other water-bourne illnesses each year. It's in the millions; mostly children. What he is doing is really impressive, especially considering that he's doing it in some risky areas in terms of political instability. 11/8/2009 8:08:33 PM |

Can TWW spoil yet another online poll?
Follow the power voting steps on his site just in case:

I would love to see a NCSU grad accept this honor. Regardless, I hope he raises a lot of money and keeps his efforts up.
