quagmire02 and myself have some grudges to pursue. Where's the cheapest place to get some ammo? I'm looking for 12 gauge shells, 38 special, and 22 long rifle ammo. I know nothing about guns, don't much care... we just need to get some on the cheap.

Wal-mart? Specialty shop?

I guess it depends on where you stand, but there is no such thing as cheap ammo. No matter how you slice it, an afternoon of shooting costs $$$.

But yes, if you can't wait a few days for an internet order delivery, wal-mart is a sound choice.

I was reading online and someone said shipping costs negated most of the savings. I got this thing coming up I want to buy some ammo for... and I probably have enough time to buy online, unless it's going to take like 3 weeks to get here.

What price should I expect for ammo at Walmart, and where should I look to find some better deals than that? As said before, I am interested in the shotgun, rifle, and pistol shooting, so i'll probably buy a bit of ammo for each. Thanks for the advice.

P.S. We're not going to kill someone, just a day of range practice with a friend, and I was thinking about buying some ammo for that and giving the leftovers to my friend for inviting me out.

Just go to Walmart and look for yourself.
It's generally the cheapest but they won't have a decent selection of premium ammo.

Ordering off the net isn't necessarily more expensive.

you can get premium ammo for cheaper than you can find in gun stores. Walmart will beat the price on most bulk pistol ammo, but the premium stuff is cheaper on that site.
I got Win Ranger buckshot for $5 a box. You'd be paying $6-7/box at Walmart. Sometimes that site has premium handgun ammo in 50 round boxes that cost only $20-25...It's $17-20 per box of 20 ini gun shops and $17-25 per 50 for cheap JHP at Walmart.

Shipping is like $10-15 and turn around time is maybe a week. It's easy to come out cheaper on some internet sites...

BTW there's a gun thread you can post questions like this in.
