Wii Bowling is the main reason to own the system.

New Mario game just came out

Connect it to the internet and use the wii channel to buy old NES games - turn your wii-mote sideways... look familiar?

It really just depends on what kind of games you like.

If you just like Wii Bowling, then stuff like Wii Play and Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit are going to be what you want to look at. You might also like Tiger Woods golf, but that’s a good bit more challenging that the simple Wii sports games.

If you want to “branch out” a bit, Mario Galaxy is a good place to start… if you like Mario Galaxy, then you might also like Twilight Princess.

If you have friends over a lot, get 3 more controllers and get Mario Party too.

we have Wii Fit and Wii Play, not too impressed with Wii play at all. what about EA Sports Active?

i like sports (football, basketball), anything good titles here??

and fighting games - is super smash brawl good? punchout?

and i love the old super mario brothers on original NES so i def want to try out the new super marios bros

no idea what super mario galaxy is

for accessories, i'm leaning towards the wii charger to not keep replacing battery..is this a good investment? so what is the classic controller for then if the wii remote can do the same thing sideways

I would trust ign, gamespot, gametrailers, etc over TWW anyday.

I'm not sure. Check reviews for Madden, NBA games, etc. Never tried EA Sports Active

Super Smash Bros Brawl is great if you have 3-4 people, but it's very, very different from any other fighting game out there. Watch some videos on youtube and see if it's your cup of tea.

Punch-Out is awesome and if you liked the old one, I think you'll like the new one.

It's a 3-D platformer, very different from classic Mario. It's my favorite Wii game, but watch a video and decide if you like it.

If it's the Nyko one, no. My friend bought that and it lasted maybe a year. I use rechargeable batteries with a charger, which I think is more reliable (but less convenient).

"Classic Controller

The Classic Controller is needed to play some Virtual Console games. The thin, traditionally shaped peripheral plugs directly into the Wii Remote, and it combines the best features of the SNES and N64 controllers. "

I can't believe no one has mentioned Mario Kart yet. Definately a must have, great game, and fun for parties and such.

i bought a wii for me and my lady's anniversary back in sept.

you will get a lot of joy out of playing the old SNES, NES, and 64 games. hell i play them more than anything else.

mario kart is fun though. tiger woods is fun but can be challenging. i dont really like wii sports other than the bowling

how do you play the old games? i have to buy Wii points? any deals out there for Wii points?

also do i have to get the classic controller to play the old games like contra, original super mario, etc? does the gamecube controller do the same thing? which is better.

also i would love to get Street Fighter...do they have this for Wii?

Boom Blox is always fun

House of the undead: Overkill is a ridiculous over the top arcade shooter game that could be fun for a few laughs

If you have a Gamecube controller it will work on any of the Virtual Console games. You can turn your Wiimote on it's side to use it like a NES controller, but for any games that you download that were originally for the SNES, N64, Genesis, etc that don't have that type of controller will require either a Classic Controller or a GC Controller.

Games I would recommend: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Okami, The Conduit, Deadly Creatures, WarioWare Smooth Moves.

ok i think i got everything figured out now on the Wii except the modding part....there seems to be many variants to backing up my games, on the device, on the SD card, on an attached USB HDD, on burned DVDs......and tools like homebrew, usbloader, this and that.....

i prefer the attached USB HDD route.....can someone point me to the the latest and greatest utility and guide to doing this....there's just too much on google to sort through to find the latest most stable tool.

I personally think the classic is better for the VC. I just may drag my Wii out of the box and hook it back up so I can get down on some old school Mario.
