She is getting some grief at the moment around retaining Fridge, but I think it was primarily driven by circumstances/political pressure surrounding his buyout. She has obviously demonstrated the ability to build competitive programs across a wide range of sports programs and good business savvy, not to mention her sister's ties to NCSU.

I think she may need a change of scenery, and NCSU could use some shaking up. Hire Yow, as long as we don't end up with a coach-in-waiting plan at NC State.

Nah, I'm thinking we hire the guy at App State, who is a State alum. What will actually happen though is Fowler will continue being the AD until he retires, and the App State guy will be hired away to some other school and he'll turn that athletics program into one of the premiere ones in the country.

maybe we can bring him in as the AD-in-waiting. Everybody loves him, and I guess I should know his name since he was my AD, but I'm not sure if he would be that great. He has expanded a lot of the athletic facilities at App, and football's going strong, baseball is headed in the right direction, i think we were good at field hockey? I'd welcome a change, but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't do a whole lot better. Or maybe he would

maryland has a lot of issues getting players into the school because of high standards she's imposed. she also had a well publicized spat with gary williams last year

not that she may have been at fault there, but an AD shouldnt be seen or heard. We all know Lee Fowler because he sucks. I know of Yow because the people I know who root for Maryland hate her

Has Charlie Cobb really done that much at App? Has there been across-the-board improvement? Because you can't really credit him that much with the football success. I'm seriously asking about this, btw. Someone fill me in if you're familiar with it.

It just seems like NCSU fans always want to hire someone because they're "family," regardless of how good a cadidate that person might be.

Yes, he really has. Football, basketball, and baseball: the three major sports, have all made enormous leaps. App State basketball and baseball used to be jokes.

First off, I don't see why she would want to come here after we ended up not hiring Glance (which was the correct decision by Fowler, for once). It's true that she couldn't fire Fridge even if she wanted to because of the buyout, but who do you think agreed to the buyout in the first place? As others have mentioned, the coach-in-waiting thing is ridiculous, no coach should be able to name their successor unless they have won a national championship, and Fridge hasn't even come close.
