check this 2 or 3 times a day. i just consider it the lesser of nyt/wp. usually if i'm looking for a story in nyt and i don't see it, i see if wp has something new about it
http://www.drudgereport.com- i view this as pretty conservative. the ads make me want to gag. a lot of the links go to breitbart, which i had never heard of before DR. and lately it seems really slow. i only recently decided to bookmark it for regular use
http://www.huffingtonpost.com- obviously this is like 95% positive coverage for liberals. it has a lot of entertainment news thats good, and tons of embeds(i love sites with lots of embeds of stuff i'll probably like). they announce nude or risque photos all the time. plus lots of daily show/colbert clips
http://www.realclearpolitics.com- i use this as my site for just finding a lot of various things. i haven't been clicking as many links as i use to, but i still use it. this is usually the catalyst for finding my way onto wsj. which i have a hard time putting any stock into, because i know rupert murdoch owns it. but i'll be frank, if i had the choice between news papers, i'd read wsj over wp or usa today

http://www.yahoo.com/news- outside of the newspapers and political websites, this is my news source for everything else. probably read 20-40 stories a day from here. of course some of those are on topics i've already read about(healthcare, etc)...i just read them to make sure theres nothing the other story left out.

tv. i don't watch much tv, this is what i can catch now. if you all know of other shows with episodes online post them!

I wish i got PBS, Marko was talking about it in a thread the other day and it really made me wish I had PBS.

newspapers

news and observer- i heard from someone on here once that it was fairly liberal leaning. I view it more as the "best local paper here", and its provided at work.
usa today- also provided at work. i love the 50 state thing where theres 1 or 2 little facts about the goings on in every state in the union, plus a few territories i think. this is my least favorite of the big 4(usa today, wall street journal, washingtonpost, nyt)

in that order. i watch purely based on quality of show and ease of use. except i watch fox last deliberately.

other websites i've heard of are the atlantic, thehill, thenationalreview, weekly standard, mcclatchy(which i like when i catch it but yahoo doesn't have a lot of it, but i see it on drudge and RCP sometimes too), CSM(which I don't really feel is a good news source), reuters(which i like but don't read much anymore), NPR(national public radio) which i heard is US biased(lol, mambagrl) and very liberal. I've heard of dailykos, but i think they are the kinda ppl like moveon that do more harm than good to the democratic party.

any general comments, suggestions, links, etc? Hope this thread gets some traction...

A lot of my free time to get news in depth is in the car, so I get a lot through the radio. NPR/WUNC/BBC (depending on time of day), WCHL 1360AM (a local news station mostly for Orange County but has some triangle area focus too sometimes, & they carry CBS radio news on the hour).

I've got CNN.com & MSNBC.com book marked if I want to follow up on an interesting story I hear somewhere else. Usually WRAL.com for weather related stuff & news14.com sometimes too b/c they're statewide & break it down by region so it is easy to find a story for a particular area, & nbc17.com. But I usually news websites to follow up on when I hear about something interesting in conversation, or see it here on tdub, or on bluenc.com, or orangepolitics.com or the like. I pick up the occasional physical copy of the indy, & look at school newspapers online too, or look at the N&O online, but less so than the other online news sources.

morning - Brad & Britt on 101.1 and/or Morning Edition on NPR. If I am near a tv I see how hot Robin Meade is that particular morning and what she's talking about and sometimes Fox and Friends if I know they will be bitching and whining about something or I need a good laugh.
afternoon/evening - NPR: All Things Considered and Marketplace
on the rare occasion I take the truck to work - Alan Colmes and/or BBC
2am - Rachel Maddow and switching over to Glenn Beck during commercials
5am - Bill O'reilly until he gets to be obnoxious.
yahoo is my homepage so whatever is on there I usually see first.

On my own time via the interwebs - On the Media and Science Friday. Some of you may not consider them "news" but they usually have topics pertinent to current events.

Internet only, really. Google news, drudgereport, politico, breitbart, WSJ, bloomberg, kitco for gold-related news. I read stuff on mises.org, lewrockwell, zerohedge, and some other sites, but I wouldn't really call that "news." I get linked to a lot of other news sites throughout the day, but I don't necessarily "visit" those sites on a regular basis.

It's pretty easy to understand, man. Just go to the website. As with all commodities or stocks, there's a lot of news that comes out that can potentially cause fluctuation in prices.

I wish. I do own some, and I want to buy more, and you should too. For instance, if a story came out that a certain central bank was about to sell off tons of gold, that might indicate a good buying opportunity coming up.

My general sources of news:
Washington Post - (paper and web) I subscribe to it and read the online edition. Best coverage of the greusome inner workings of politics inside the beltway. Excellent Pentagon coverage. Also, it's my local paper. Enjoy EJ Dionne and Anne Applebaum's columns.
NY Times - (web) Intelligently written. Slightly left leaning in my opinion, but still an excellent source of news. I usually read Brooks, Herbert, Kristof and Krugman's columns.
NPR & PRI - (radio) One of my favorite sources of news. ATC, Morning Edition, and Marketplace
Drudge Report - (web) Right-wing bias, but they publish so many entertaining articles, I can't help myself.
BBC - (web) Good Western but not American coverage.
Al Jazeera English - (web) Good for a non-western, Muslim perspective. Probably the best third world coverage.
Politico - (web) Great for the die hard, gory details of the great Federal soap opera.

Economist - Had to give up my subscription though because I had no time to read it with school
