So I bought some jeans and when I did I was in more of a traditional mood, so I went with this color: http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3672676&cp=3146842.3146844.3146854.3691997

Whereas in the past I would have bought something flashier like this:
http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3584257&cp=3146842.3146844.3146854.3691998
or
http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3632700&cp=3146842.3146844.3146854.3691998

Is the color I got too old man-ish? Should I return them and get one of the 559's? (second set of pictures are 559's). I can't make up my mind

ok this is just my opinion

but the first ones are the jeans my dad wears. like they don't just look like them, they ARE them.

so i'd return and go with a different choice.

(my dad is 60 if that answers your question)

I find it odd that you're set on Levi jeans. I'm not sure why I find it odd, but I do.

i never said they weren't acceptable apparel. i wear them all the time..mainly when I'm working on a car or something

but if you're going for 'style'ish", then no, they aren't a very good brand. if you're looking for cheap/last a long ass time..then yea, they're awesome

I don't make much money right now, so I can't buy expensive jeans. I don't need something that will get me laid just off of the brand.. just something that wont turn women away.

i used to would only wear the $20 levi signatures from walmart, but recently deemarie introduced me to the wrangler relaxed fit from walmart and i have concluded that while they aren't as durable as the levis, they are more comfortable.

Laid off the brand? wtf?

Anyway... just go to Marshall's or Filene's or something and get a $40 pair of jeans that are not Levi or some other lame or generic brand (NO OLD NAVY)

I just don't like going to stores like that, that only carry clothing that they make (with the exception of factory outlet stores obviously). I don't know why, I just always hated those places.

Lucky Brand jeans are good, but they're usually expensive. If there's an outlet I'd take advantage, but make sure it isn't just an outlet of their reject jeans.

i have to get a pair of jeans in the next few days cuz there is a 50% sale at the local diesel store and my current pair of diesel has worn out (knees only, rest is in great condition).

but, i hate jeans shopping, as there is so much variety. i went there a few days ago and they had about 15-20 different ones. but i guess if i factor in price, my choice will be limited. i don't want to pay more than $70-80. (and before the sale, the cheapest was $160)

p.s. that jeans from the 1st link
the other 2 are hot, esp the darker one. that's what i am aiming to get.

outside of work or formal events, I pretty much only wear jeans out. In addition to that, I've only gotten 3 pairs of jeans in the past 6.5 years I think. I get them slightly darker at first and they are all fairly light now They are all American Eagle and were a great deal when I got them. I used to get Levis though in HS. I like my jeans pretty slim with a small boot-cut.

Also, when I came in this thread, I was expecting COLORED jeans such as:

not just similar shades of blue

just go into Guess and get some jeans that aren't giant boot fit, have button pockets on the ass, or are ripped/stained and $profit

and make sure they fit on your ass and you don't look like you took a dump in your jeans....

indie blue > dark stonewash > low tide
559s > 550s

i mean, i prolly wouldn't say that they are "too old man-ish," but i care more about whether or not someone dresses poorly than whether or not someone dresses hiply

I feel like that color and style of jeans screams "farmer" more so than "old man." As long as the waistband isn't at your navel, you are probably age-appropriate.

When I last went shopping for jeans, I had to go to Eddie Bauer to get some that didn't fit like emo-fag shit. Most of what I found (including Levi's) were going the hip-hugger route.

I like that quality in a girl which is why I originally was OK with the purchase. I kind of like the older look because I'm not like most guys my age in that i'm much more mature (my postings on this site do not reflect my real life personality, as I hope most of you are). Those jeans, however, were a little too plain for my taste. I wear jeans with everything and I tend to dress more trendy (I like the jeans and a sport coat look) so I needed something a little less basic.

I really liked the cut of those jeans. The relaxed/tapered leg suited my leg size well (I have huge thighs and butt from doing a lot of bulk leg exercises back when I was playing football) and the high waist was awesome, it was like a corset for my belly.

Anyway, I ended up buying jeans at Lucky Brand. They feel good and the look is exactly what I want. They have a more fashionable color to them and they aren't pre-faded or pre-worn which I hate. I can look like a normal guy wearing jeans and not an asshole. They were a little more than I wanted to spend.. but they were buy one get one 50% off so I got 2 pairs for 100 bucks total. Plus they run a little larger than levi or wrangler so I was a 34 waist instead of 36

What felt really good was the wranglers I took off (what fit me before joining the navy) was a 38, and a worn in 38 at that. Felt really good losing all of that baggage.
