For anyone with the knowledge:
1. What is the terminology & purpose for the holes in the back of some pave' wedding bands? 2. Is there a functional difference between those and the solid-inside bands? 3. Those with the experience, why did you select one over the other?

I think it has to do with the setting of the diamonds. You'll notice that the stones on the second one are noticeably bigger. 12/12/2009 3:33:19 PM |

I know you aren't asking this, but my only advice is to go together so X can try it on w/ her engagement ring. Some bands sat funny next to my e-ring, or just didn't look right. So those in combination to the advice/answers you'll get for these questions may help make the final decision.

^^ Yeah I'm thinking that was a forgone conclusion, but I figured I'd pull tww trigger and see what happened. Original and witty answers like the post above was more or less what I was expecting. 12/13/2009 8:50:47 PM |

I don't know what the holes are called, but I've asked about them on mine and FIL (a jeweler) says they help let in light through the diamond(s) to make them sparkle more. 12/13/2009 9:59:39 PM |

it keeps the culet from getting chipped and also plays a role in how light is reflected from the diamond 12/14/2009 10:46:40 AM |
