tww,

i usually cut my own hair with a #2 guard. i'd like to do it again but i'm actually considering going somewhere to get it cut. just gettin tired of cleanin up the mess, havin to shower after its cut, missing spots, etc. its also too damn hard to get the back of my neck done when i do it myself.

what are some cheap places around raleigh-cary (cary preferrably) that will do a decent job? not lookin to spend much more than $10 since i usually do it myself.

'preciate it

sportclips or great clips, any place like that should have a ~$10 cut but you'll still have to tip. upshot is that you might get to talk to a cute chick

or you can ^

the whole gettin a friend to cut it or doin it myself still involves a questionable neck-line, questionable overall job, and a needed shower after it's done. there's not much worse of a feeling than havin little hairs stuck all in your clothes and on your skin after you cut your own hair.

don't think the fiance would enjoy a cute chick doin my hair but i rather have a cute chick do it than some flamer.

i think i'm gonna give sports clips a shot since its down the road from me in cary. anyone know their prices? just a basic ass hair cut / #2 buzz.. maybe a #1. #1.5 guard would be perfect, do they got those?

I haven't paid for a haircut in 10 years. Do the whole #2 guard as well. But I have always had my SO at the time or my sister cut it, because I can't line up the back when i cut it my own. But we always do mine out on the back porch, so we can just sweep it into the yard.

i made the transition to a barber ab 6 mons ago after cutting my own hair for the past 15 yrs. and its a reason they go to school for it. the lok and feel you get from a fresh cut is incredible. i pay about 15$ for a cut including tip.

Your fiance doesn't want you getting your hair cut by a woman or a gay guy? Seriously? Is she that insecure? Can you not be trusted around any attractive woman? I mean, it's just a haircut, not a blow job.

And, btw, my partner cuts my hair, and he's a straight dude. Plus, there are plenty of gay barbers (oh noes!)

No no, you got it wrong.

The fiance doesn't want his hair cut by a cute chick.
He doesn't want his hair cut by a gay guy.

Both of these scenarios are

If I ever meet any poverty stricken hideous bitches who cut hair for next to nothing I'll be sure to refer you to them.

Wait, isn't this exactly what Man-Mur is for? How much does that place cost?

I don't get it, do you think you'll get a bad haircut from someone who has a different sexual orientation, or do you just not like them touching your hair?

it takes me 10-15 to cut mine (#1 guard), clean it up, andclean out the clippers. I don't miss spots... I have a handheld and wall mirror, a 20 second hop in the shower isn't much, and I get my neck by myself just fine (I use the #1 to get most of it, then take my razor and shave from my hairline down...might not be perfectly straight, but close enough)

^same as him but with no guard. also...good trick for giving yourself a straight neckline. Take a piece of masking tape ( i use the blue tape as it seems to work better) and tape it even across the back of your neck...then just shave from there down. works for me everytime....speaking of which...time for a shave before graduation!

What is an acceptable tip for a men's haircut(usually lasts 15 mins)? Say the haircut costs $22.

first of all, why pay $22 for a haircut. But to answer your question, I usually just give like $2-3 bucks.

and ^^ maybe it depends where you go, I dono. I usually just go to Great Clips which is like $12 for a basic hair cut. I almost always use a coupon for like $6.99, but I figure $2/$3 is like 16%/25% respectively of the normal price $12. Thats more than enough of a tip.

some funny folks in this thread.

$0.00 here at the house with a #1 Guard. Don't know why I even considered going somewhere. Biggest waste of money in the world (when you use such a low # guard).

My hair cut is $11, and I give her a $20 and tell her to keep the change. The lady I go to does a fantastic job every time so I reward her with a good tip. Finding a person that can cut your hair exactly like you want it every time is hard to find. I dont mind paying $20 with tip for a great haircut.

Just because someone doesn't charge a lot doesn't mean its a bad hair cut. With girls, maybe, but with guys its a pretty simple cut.

continue to cut your own hair. it's fun. besides, if you fudge it up, just clip some pubes and glue them to the thinner areas. that or wear a hat for the weekend. life's good!

this is true. my haircuts run me $60 w/o tip, and there is night and day difference between the quality of a cheaper supercuts haircut and the more expensive ones, which are done by well-trained stylists (yes, she is a stylist, but can give a damn good haircut, too)

You pay $60 for this? No offense man but you are over paying big time. And there is no way a $12 haircut is going to look much worse than that. You have a regular normal haircut. Its not like you have some super metro sexual styled hair that warrants a $60 haircut. You hair looks almost exactly like every $12 haircut out there.

^^ that's not my mugshot, dude.

^ i used to agree. for years I did the #2/#3 guard myself, but my ex convinced me to go to her haircuttin place one time. it was expensive but i got an awesome hair cut. i liked the person so much i kept going to her. they pamper me, which is nice. when i go in early they have a nicely chilled chimay blance waiting for me while i wait. the head massage is awesome, too.

my stylist, she's kinda cute too

There is a huge difference in cutting your hair yourself and an $11 haircut. You seem to just assume that you go from cutting it yourself to $60 and the $11 ones are garbage. You also seem to be paying for more than just a haircut at the $60 place.

Ok, so thats not you. How about you post a pic of your $60 haircut so we can judge it.

Right now I'm sporting a $18 barber shop haircut. It's pretty short, but looks really good. When my hair gets longer I go to this girl who works in a salon for a $24 deal. She does a lot of layering and junk, but when she's done it looks really good the way it falls into place. I think she charges $55 for women though. Men's cuts are always way cheaper from what I've seen; even in salons.

I used to get my hair cut in the big gay area of san diego. this one gay guy was the best, in washing my hair he'd basically give me like a 5 minute scalp massage. the fact that it's a dude doesn't bother me the slightest.

but yeah, been cutting my own hair a few years now. it paid for my clippers on the 2nd cut.
