Has anybody eaten at the 1895 before? Any restaurants around better than that one? Also, are there any good places for people that are not old to hang out later? Staying at The Carolina. Thanks t dub!

I lived in the Pines growing up. Be prepared for boredom.

OK maybe I shouldn't get you down about your trip. It's not TOO bad if you go to the Belltree or the Jefferson (bars). These are in Southern Pines, a town next to Phurst. College age people go to these places. Phurst is fun if you're 80.

I lived in Seven Lakes West from 1997 to 2008.

It sucked. It was nothing but boredom. There wasn't shit to do, unless you love golf.

I've eaten at the 1895 once for brunch. The place is nice. The food was ok. And the price was outrageous (IIRC). Basically, I think it's overrated. People only like it for the prestige.

There are plenty of good restaurants in Pinehurst and the surrounding towns. There's the Magnolia Inn, and that's right in Pinehurst. It's expensive, but the food is delicious. Great atmosphere and great food.

If you want something more friendly to the pocket. There's an italian restaurant in Seven Lakes called the Italian Table. Here's the website:
http://www.italiantablerestaurant.com/

The atmosphere is a bit more relaxed, a bit more casual. The prices aren't bad and the food is good.

Another good place is the Squires Pub:
http://thesquirespub.com/

Similar atmosphere to the Italian Table. The place is in a busier section of town, so if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, expect it to be crowded. However, if you want to go some place for lunch, you can't go wrong. And if you like Shepherd's Pie, you can't go wrong with the Squires Pub. Again, the prices are very reasonable, and the food is very good (if you're into British food). It's a decent place to get a good sandwich at as well, but I wouldn't go there to just get a sandwich (after all, you can get one anywhere).

I should also mention that if you plan on eating at a country club, expect golf course standard food. You know, burgers, fries, ect. The fancier golf courses may have a better selection, but you'll pay an arm and a leg for any of it.

Also, for golf, if you get the opportunity to go to the Country Club of North Carolina, DO IT. It's private, so you have to know someone. I worked there for 3 summers on the golf course, and the place is beautiful (and out of the mundane jobs that I've had, I actually really liked working there).

Mac's Breakfast is good, but I have only been to the one in West End. I wasn't aware of there being one on 15-501.

If you go out after 9 in Pinehurst, you will more than likely be the youngest ones out in town

They just closed the Southern Pines location. The one in Aberdeen is the only one left.
