anyone one here have this setup? My family and I have a few VHSs we'd like converted to DVD. Some are homemade tapes others are regular movies. Probably 15-20 total.

I've seen a few packages you can buy to do this, but I'd rather pay less to have it done than just to buy the setup.

ha, I think I saw a sign for this service that was planted at some exit off of I-40.

Hope that helps!

I have a whole set-up with a VCR and an 8mm camcorder, and a TV tuner, iDVD, etc. I converted about 20 tapes for a friend a few months ago for $10/ea.

I'd do it again, but only thing in the way now is..... i just moved to Idaho! So, if you can't find anyone local, you can send the tapes to me, and i'll mail back DVDs.

I actually hooked up a VCR to a old tv tuner card last week and converted a few VHS tapes to mpeg2. Haven't gotten around to burning it to DVD yet, was more concerned with just getting a digital copy.

I think most places charge about $10 per tape for basic transfer to dvd. For 15-20 movies, it would probably be cheaper to just buy something like this and do it yourself, or a video capture card if you already have a VHS player.

We used http://www.discountdigitalart.com a while back to copy a VHS to DVD. Quality was good but the tards screwed up the shipping address so it took a call or two to get everything straight.

thanks for the responses... it looks like it would be almost as expensive to purchase the dvds of the actual movies, assuming they're all available.... I just might do that and let my parents take care of the family videos

might have a few VHSs and a VHS player for sale soon
