I think the earth is actually cooling instead of warming. Look at the big ice berg off of austrailia's coast. austrailia is supposed to be all hot and tribal, but how is a chunk of ice the size of texas just sitting there without melting when the earth is supposed to be warm?

not only that, but since it is the winter here, it is supposed to be the summer there. and they still have all that ice? in conclusion, the globe is not warming, but it is cooling.

Hey A, I wholeheartedly support this idea. First, it's common sense that the average person can question. Second, something that massive in size would or should melt very quickly being out in the open like that during 'summer'. But there is tons on evidence that counters global warming. Fact.

let's use science to debunk this...

Question #1: Where did that bigass "ice berg" come from?
Answer: Maybe it came from a large glacier, from whence it broke off? That happens a lot when ice is heated up AND STARTS TO COME APART. Watch the Discovery Channel once in a while, they show this at least once a week.

Question #2: How does a bigass "ice berg" not melt quickly?
Answer: It might take a while for several hundred/thousand/whatever tons of ice to melt. It's not instant, ya know.

Next time, try applying a little logic to your bright ideas before sharing them with others.

Not sound. It could break off just due to it's own massive size. Continental drift could have moved it and it's support system could have left it weak. Succesfully refuted that one.

Who said it was melting? Global warming would have an immediate effect on the glacier melting rapidly in that region. I mean, it's not the north pole for christ's sake. But opt, you had some good points. Turned out that none of them were really supported by anything.

Really? Without ANNNNNY external stimulus? None whatsoever? It just decided one day, "fuck this, Imma go visit Australia." You're seriously suggesting that a LARGE CHUNK OF GLACIER just up and FELL OFF for no reason at all.

aaaaahahahahahaha.

You successfully refuted your scientific credentials. Thank you, drive through.

Also, just for the sake of being thorough...

I'd like to point out that this is coming from the same man that said to me, in this thread (message_topic.aspx?topic=581299&page=1#13530840), the following:

Quote :
"Careful now Optimum. I know some 'things' about you as well. I'd hate for them to go viral, you know what I'm saying! Just stay out of this. No need to intercept any stray bullets."

So, who, exactly is saying things that aren't supported by, um, "anything?" You know nothing, and you make a point of sharing that with us.

Glaciers break off, and they have nothing to do with global warming. In some cases.

ok i don't know what all this glacier stuff is coming from, but it just adds to my proof that global cooling is happening. everyone knows ice bergs form when ocean water freezes... guess what... WATER HAS TO BE COLD TO FREEZE.

and if it broke off of an even larger glacier, especially since it is in the summer season south of the US, it has to be VERY COLD now. especially in austrailia, where people reguarly surf and wear next to no clothing. if there are glaciers in the ocean there, then it HAS to be cooler than normal. i cant believe how blind some people are to the facts just because obama tells them global warming is a law when it's not. if anything it's just a theory, and i've proven it's a WRONG theory.

I seem to recall on NPR a month or so ago they were talking about this very thing. They said that, in general, icebergs do melt long before they get to Australia. So, the fact that they are showing up on the cost of Australia is significant. But, it has little to do with global warming or global cooling.

It got a lot warmer today from about 7:30 am to around 3:30 pm, which is evidence of global warming

but then shortly after that, it began to cool down and it is a bit cooler now than it was this afternoon, which is evidence of global cooling

i'm stumped

While the southeast has been cooler than usual this summer (and I've been loving it without end) that hasn't been the case for the whole country. The southwest and northeast have been pretty hot.
However there has been a lot of cool temps nationwide:

Arctic sea ice levels aren't that bad this summer, especially compared to 2006/2007. It's currently doing better than last year:

I've got my fingers crossed for a colder than normal winter
