I'm going to try to read a book each week next year. I have a shitload of books that I haven't read yet, and plus I'm hoping to try to cut back on the time I waste fuckin' around on the internet.

So who's with me?

Oh man, this is going to be hard finding 52 new books, I'm sure I'll reread some books.

For my 52 books, I'm going to try to make them all new books I haven't read, but we'll see how that goes cause I might just really want to reread a book. I think I have probably close to 52 books here I haven't read so it shouldn't be hard. Plus I go to thrift shops throughout the year and buy books for 50 cents. I'm gonna use this thread to keep my running list of what books I've read. Everyone else should feel free to do the same.

Sweet...thrift shops, didn't even think of buying books there...I might have to check it out, maybe I'll run by there today and stock up on books.

books i have lined up to read:
last 4 harry potter books
the case for christ
the gnostic gospels
pride and prejudice and zombies
zombie survival guide

I remember back in the day when you would get a free personal pan pizza for reading so many books, wonder if they did away with that....

Yeah, maybe I shouldn't have put this in chit chat with all the idiots. Entertainment may have been better, but oh well.

I need to finish Lovely Bones before Jan 1, then I can read Time Traveler's Wife and finish Eclipse for my first two books.

See, I'd be all about reading more if it was just a substitute for wasting time on the internet. But I only do that when I'm at work and I don't think it'd be cool if I just sat back and read a book all the time in my cube

I have 4-5 books I'm waiting to read for the first time, plus 2 others I want to reread but at the rate I go those 6ish books will last me all year, if not longer. I used to read a lot more when I lived in NYC; whenever I'd take the subway anywhere I would just pull out the book and read.

^^yeah I just started yesterday and haven't read much of it, and am already a third of the way through.

^I was just thinking the other day that I'd love to be able to take public transit so I could read. I have an hour long commute to school every day and it seems like such wasted time.

With a book in my hand and my iPod playing in my ears I'd be in my own little world on the subway. Just need to be aware of where your stop/transfers are

I don't hate on reading, but I only read a few books a year. When my life is more settled, I'll read more.

Read the entire ASOIAF series by George R. R. Martin. They're each 900 pages.

I don't think I would want a kindle. I like the feel of actually having the book. Plus I don't like reading at length from a screen.

^^kindle screens are nothing like reading from an iToy or similar backlit device. The screen is super clear and very easy to read.
