No idea - Suppose I should ask the seller that question.

You need to hold the watch in your hands to be able to tell, cell phone pics wont help.

One of the main things to look for is pins in the band. If you can see pins holding the band to the watch, or the links together, then its a fake. The only visible pin in a real TAG band is where you adjust the size of the band.

I've only bought 2, but each time I've called TAG and they've had no problem verifying the serial number for me.

^ thanks - good info. I will definitely give Tag a call to verify the serial #. That seams like the easiest and most surefire way to determine the authenticity.

Its only a matter of time before the chinese fake guys find an easy way to do the pin-less band also, so the best way is just to call.

Here is the number from my exchange with them:

I called that 1800 number earlier and they said I would have to bring the watch in for maintenance - they would not verify serial numbers over the phone. I'm going to ask the seller to meet me at a jewelers and handle it that way.

Thoughts?

Watches bigger than 42mm or so just seem really overstated to me.

I'm 6'4" and 205 pounds. My biggest is a Omega Planet Ocean and at 45.5mm it feels like a brick.

QTPie is a watch queen.

I'm a diamond and jewelry queen, esp antique stuff.

also, I might be getting a TAG, I know I shouldn't but I am getting it at a great price. just to say I own one. how stupid, but still I am excited. I LOVE my Raymond Weil and it has treated me well for years, so it kinda feels like cheating on it. ...but someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse!!!

lol @ people on here talking about getting a TAG as a status symbol. It's not even one of the higher end brands.

I know, but I like to spend my $$$ on diamonds not watches. It still is a status symbol because you are paying more for the name than the watch. My next watch was supposed to be a platinum Harry Winston, but I guess I will sneak this TAG in there until then.

Thanks for the help. Ended up getting a brand new Aquaracer for $550. Met the guy at a jewelry store and had them authenticate before I purchased. Tempted to flip it and make a few hundred dollars.

What makes a TAG a "premium" watch?

Unlike a Rolex or Breitling (sp?) that has gold/stones, its made of stainless steal and looks like an ESQ or Citizen

So what, if you like a watch, get it, regardless of the manufacturer.

One of my daily watches is a Guess watch, because I don't feel horrible if I accidentally hit it on a wall or something.

http://www.amazon.com/Guess-Watches-Collection-Bracelet-46001G1/dp/B000Y9NOYQ

I have no idea why amazon is showing it at that price, this is a $100 watch, not a $500 one.

I have a tag and I wear that thing doing everything and it does not have one scratch on the crystal...that and the fact that it looks nice is more than enough for me. I have had enough cheap watches that get easily scratched.

Wierd. I used to wear one of my TAGs every day, and had to send it back twice to be "reconditioned" with a new crystal and case because I kept fuckin them up.

you do know that sapphire crystal is actually pretty hard to get scratched, right? I'm pretty sure the only way you can get it scratched is with a harder object like diamond or sapphire itself.

I've had mine since I was 16. My aunt gave me a fake tag for my birthday. When I found out it was fake, I saved my money and bought a real one. Ten years later I still have it, and wear it all the time. Sapphire crystal glass still has no scratches.

It was the first major thing I ever purchased with my own money.

Feels good man.

Its the same reason you don't buy all your clothes at KMart.

Good things cost more.

Men don't wear tons of jewelry like women, we don't get a nice fat diamond to wear on our finger. For a man, the watch is pretty much the only jewelry accessory we get to wear. I am sure peoples GFs and or wives on here have a few thousand $s worth of jewelry, so there is nothing wrong with a guy consolidating all of that into a nice watch.

Nice watches look nice, feel better, and generally last longer than cheaper ones. Not to mention most, if kept up and taken care of, hold their value very very well.

Its more of a status symbol also, you are going to look a lot better and get more respect etc... wearing a $2k watch or more, than you are rocking a $100 piece you got at Wal-Mart. It sounds stupid, but its true.

^^maybe you overpaid for yours. If you go on watch forums, a quartz TAG generally costs around $500, and that's male watches. Women watches are generally cheaper. There are exception like the Carrera, but those are automatic and chronographs.
