had an article in the newspaper about this yesterday... they are going to come out with new TV sets that support "3D".. they said it is a way to promote people to upgrade their current TV sets, since most people are buying the current plasma or LCD variety..

now people will want to upgrade to a 3-d set..... i don't think it will last

I'd imagine that most people that wanted to upgrade already have and I doubt that the addition of 3D would be the tipping point for anyone that hasn't upgraded yet.

I assume by "promote people to upgrade" they mean promote people to upgrade from the LCD/plasma they've already purchased.

I fully expect the first broadcast to be nothing but the words FAVRE and TEBOW popping out into people's living rooms in big block letters for 3 straight days. Ok, after reading the quoted article... they are debuting the system on a soccer game. I guess they are really looking into the foreign market to launch this thing.
