i wanted to put a little sink in the bonus room upstairs and need to run new pipes...
i'm assuming I would need a licensed plumber to do this? do i have to have a city permit?

if you have any recommendations for plumber i would be deeply appreciate it!

i have nothing to add, aside from noting the good decision to put this thread in The Lounge instead of Chit Chat

yes and yes. if you hire a professional, he/she will get the permit for you. it wont be expensive.

your bigger problem is finding supply and waste to tie into without wrecking the room.

also,

obligatory "I can clean dem pipes" post etc...

Well, at least you had the instinctive good sense to post "run" instead of "lay" pipe in the thread title. Good for you.

The plumbing permit will probably be $72 iirc, but you may need a mechanical permit too. I can refer you to two good plumbers; send me a PM if you're interested.

yeah i'm hoping this won't cost an arm and a leg...any ballpark idea?
i'm hoping for the water supply line i can just tap into the nearby water heater
for drain, i'm not so sure.

I too came her to post something dirty until my lounge etiquette got the better of me.

I blame my mother.

Glad I saw this thread. We need a plumber too, so hopefully he'll respond to PMs fast (three guys all having to use one sink is no fun).

I have a plumber that would probably be able to do this for all of you.
