Has anyone ever heard of a way to have this done while totally knocked out under general anesthesia? I want it bad but am deathly afraid of putting anything near my eyeballs. Watching someone put their contacts in makes me cringe. 1/11/2010 2:07:33 PM |

My wife, who helps with these, says not at her office. You have to look at a red light, and be able to consciously move your eyes while they prep you for the procedure. 1/11/2010 2:21:01 PM |

Yup, awake the entire time.
If you are asleep, your eyes will move AND you can't tell them if something goes wrong and they burn off your eyelids or something. 1/11/2010 2:24:34 PM |

If you have anxiety, they'll give you some Valium. After a few of those they could set you on fire and you wouldn't care. 1/11/2010 2:45:13 PM |

I have never had a valium. Someone mentioned this to me about it. But I am skeptical. If I am awake, I might ninja kick the nurse in the throat. 1/11/2010 3:05:43 PM |

they gave me 2 valium about 20 min before. it was not enough time. i HATED the procedure but what can you do about it other than sit through it and hope it's worth it. it was. 1/11/2010 3:52:09 PM |

So like maybe 5 valium? Its that lethal? Or could I still be awake for the procedure? 1/11/2010 4:17:38 PM |

I don't understand... but here is my experience
Walked in, they gave me a Valium and then I went in and got on the table. I never noticed anything from the Valium - I was really aware and nervous the whole time. We talked for a minute and then went ahead with the procedure. Something came down and grabbed my eyeball then vacuumed it a bit. It was like death - my eye was wide open and everything just faded to black. Then it cut the eyelid and did the laser thing. Then rinse and repeat.
I wouldn't call it fun.... but it was kinda cool because of the creepiness of it all.... and I could see in the dark that night

This is funny stuff.
mildew it cuts your cornea, not your lid.
If you are as bad as you say, I doubt they would do it anyway. They wont want you flipping out under thier million dollar laser whipping your arms around and shit like a parolee trying to keep from being cuffed again.
