I'm currently laid off. While I am waiting to hear back from some employment leads I am currently offering extremely affordable last minute child care services for students. I am CPR/First Aid certified (renewing certification on Feb 1). I currently keep a 15 month old daily for $10-$15 a day depending on the # of hours. I work part time for the city of Raleigh so my background is consistently monitored and must remain clean. Email me @ poeticwmn@yahoo.com for any questions 1/11/2010 3:40:31 PM |

holy crap you're being taken advantage of in a serious way...if this thread is even serious.
do you have any idea what daycare costs? make some calls, and compare that to the peanuts you're charging. hell i'm sure people round here know how much it costs] 1/11/2010 4:07:23 PM |

yeah, I was paying 1100/month for daycare until a few months ago.
Right now, my neighbor takes care of my daughter during the day, and we still pay $700 per month.
You can, and should ask for more!

I'm almost positive she meant $10-$15 an hour. 1/11/2010 4:50:14 PM |

I'm sure that she means per hour, but $15 a day is not as crazy as you might think.
The charge per day in a single star in home daycare breaks down to that and a 5 star is a only little over $25 per day.
I'm keeping a girl who is close in age to my son less than 40 hours a week and I'm charging $20 per day. I feel like I'm being robbed after being paid private nanny rates for 7 years.

I know how much daycare costs. But I'm not really trying to compete with daycares or convert my house into a home daycare. And since I hope to land another job I can't really commit to everyday 9-5. This is "back-up" child care when, say, your regular sitter cancels or you have a project to do and need some time to get it done... or run errands. I'm really just trying to get some extra cash and help out students. 1/11/2010 7:17:00 PM |
