Go Jerricho...the best 11 fingered WR in the NFL

He's the best currently
Obviously Holt had the best prime
and I think Koren Robinson definitely had the most god-given talent
I thought Tramain Hall never got a fair crack in the pros...I could see him as a dynamic punt returner/slot receiver if the cards fell in to place 1/12/2010 9:08:09 AM |

Bryan Clark was in the league for a couple of years too from that little era where State was putting WRs in the NFL. I think Cotchery is great person and good posession WR, but he'll never be Pro Bowl material like Mario, Phil, and Wilson unless he got on a team with a QB like Brady/Brees/Manning (i.e. can make a guy like Wes Welker into a star).

Russell Wilson ?
Even if he never played baseball in his life, I think his shot to play QB in the NFL would slim

Put him on the right team with a pass happy offense, and he could turn into a Reggie Wayne. They are both the same size (6', 200lbs), and their stats early in their careers are pretty similar. Wayne MIGHT have half a step on Cotchery, but Jericho still has some 'getup in him. 1/12/2010 9:56:46 AM |

Whoops! That's pretty much impossible since Rivers was State's quarterback in the late fall of 2000. 1/12/2010 10:04:10 AM |

Wayne definitely has a step on him, but more to the point he's on the receiving end of Peyton Manning's passes. I'm sure JCo would be much more productive in with say, the Chargers, Pats, or Saints.1/12/2010 10:15:22 AM |

Not the Saints...they spread out the wealth so much that no one there really stands out
But with a legit top 5 passer, Cotchery definitely had the talent to be a 1200 yard guy 1/12/2010 10:17:44 AM |

'Co is one of my favorite players of all time. I hope he has a big game on Sunday.
Does he deserve a Ring of Honor nomination? He is considered right at the top all time at WR here, and he did break most of Torry's records. 1/12/2010 10:33:50 AM |

I wonder what Torry could have done if he had had a better quarterback.
Don't get me wrong, Jamie Barnette was one of the better QBs NC State has ever had, but Holt made Barnette look like a better QB than he was much like Rivers made many of his receivers look like better receivers than they were. 1/12/2010 10:36:09 AM |

Barnette threw a fucking beautiful deep ball. He was definitely no Rivers...but he's probably one of our top 5 QBs. Rivers, Kramer, Barnette, Gabriel.......Beck??? 1/12/2010 10:42:57 AM |

^ Damn Daniel Evans in our top 10 for all time passing yards. That is pretty remarkable for him considering his talent and that he was a walk-on.
It also shows how shitty our football history is.

I dunno about that. They have a set of very tall, reliable receivers. They let go of Chris Chambers because they had enough skill at the position plus he kinda sucked.1/12/2010 11:09:10 AM |

Maybe, but the only one you hear anything about is Vincent Jackson though and it wasn't but like a season or so ago where they basically had no offensive weapons other than Antonio Gates (and LT)1/12/2010 11:45:12 AM |

and both years he seemed to have about 5 good weeks and then a bunch of blah
but those good weeks are pretty damn good

Philip was the only QB on my roster. I still won in the bye week. Finished 3rd in the final standings only because all my top WR's got fucking hurt during the play offs. Jericho helped me out too. I had like a 7 game win streak.1/12/2010 3:47:44 PM |

i disagree. taking cotchery for a 3rd WR when in his last 3 seasons he has had 1100+, 800+, 800+ yards isn't a homer move.
neither was drafting PR in the 14th round as a backup QB...to tom brady...in 2008
i finished 3rd last year and 2nd this year...losing the cship by 1/2 a point because the giants suck fucking cock and boss got zero fucking points for my TE 1/12/2010 5:58:58 PM |

You don't hear much about Malcolm Floyd but he's emerged as another great tall down-field option. The only need for the Chargers offense, IMO, is fresh legs at runningback. The end comes quick for RB's and Tomlinson's time has come.1/13/2010 2:00:29 PM |
