but realize that when he goes on tv, those phones start ringing off the hook. a lot of people call and give money... which helps the organizations down there in haiti right now. so, more people get more help the more he is on tv. not a bad thing.

The entire basis of Christianity is that everyone deserves to go to Hell for all eternity, unless they "accept Christ." If the religion didn't rein people in with the fear of Hell, there's no way it could be so popular. I can't think of anything more offensive than that, yet it's commonly accepted as benign.

I don't find it particularly surprising that Pat Robertson said what he said. The bible makes it clear that God despises the human race and punishes them on a regular basis. If Robertson buys into the Calvinist doctrine ("God's plan" and all that bullshit), then his comments make perfect sense. It doesn't even matter where the earthquake was. All that matters is that all humans are sinners, and God enjoys raining down destruction from time to time.

In before "but Jesus died for our sins so nothing in the bible matters," "that's not my Christianity," and "you obviously don't understand Christianity."
