I love 'em both, but if i had to pick one, it's Tabasco, even though texas pete is an NC product.

Pete is for flavor, not for hotness

Tabasco is for hotness (even though it's not really that hot)

Hands down Tobasco. Texas Pete Hotter Sauce is ok, though.

texas pete is fantastic on bbq sandwiches, brunswick stew, and fried fish, but too salty for general usage.

frank's ftw

I'm in agreement with Ragged. Frank's pwns all... except for Marie Sharp's, which unfortunately isn't as common in grocery stores. I did see it at Southern Season though. Usually buy it online.

I tried Pete on popcorn because I had heard some good things about it. It made it soggy and disgusting.

you can do this when you pop popcorn from kernels, but putting it on microwave popcorn just makes it soggy.

Tobasco for baked potatoes, cream soups and chili
Sriracha (rooster sauce) for oriental foods
Texas pete for chicken or pork
Chalula for pizza, and almost anything else

though I pretty much use what im in the mood for, they last long enough and are cheap enough that I can keep them all in stock.

My GF accidentally bought Texas Pete once when I was making wings. So I gave it a try, and further solidified why I am a Frank's man.

Texas Pete has no place as a the main ingredient of a wings recipe.

One time I tried to make a strawberry milkshake out of beer and icecream. It didn't taste like a proper shake, so that means that beer is no good.

Like pappy always said, use the right tool for the right job.

I grew up about an hour away from Avery Island, Louisiana, where they make Tabasco. I grew up with Tabasco in my blood. I'll put it on all sorts of things.

And for the record, the Tabasco Chipotle flavor is the bomb for putting on Chipotle burritos. Yes, sir. Do want.

Tabasco, Texas Pete, Cholula, Sriracha, and Frank's all have their places and uses. No one is better than the rest.

Though i will fight a nigga for a bottle of sriracha, now that i think about it.
