I don't know wtf to get my gf for Vday. I hate this Hallmark holiday as much as the next guy but I'd rather deal with the consequences of a pissed off gf. Anyone have ideas for cheesy Vday presents?

Been officially in a relationship for 3 months, but we dated/flirted/etc. beforehand for about 1.5 months. She likes girly stuff, she isn't a geek but she loves the geeky things I do. The main problem I'm having is anything I could think to get her she already has. Her parents spoil the hell out of her and buy her tons of stuff. Is there any type of thing that is popular amongst girls in their mid-20's these days? As for price, I'd like to keep it under $100.

Thanks for your help, Cass.

does she have the new ipod shuffle? i just got one for christmas from my bf because i accidentally washed my old one in the washing machine one day. the new one is pretty sweet. they redid them and it holds more songs and you can do play lists. if she's into working out then it would be a good gift because its small and clips onto a shirt.

does she have a Wii? i also got Wii Sports Resort....super fun. you can get her a game and the extra sensitivity controller condom thingy.

yay? nay? i can keep thinking. these are just 2 that popped into my head.

also, pay attention this week and see if there's anything she might mention she needs or would like. you earn extra brownie points that way.

ok here is what you get the girl that has everything

a handmade card (seriously even if its ugly, its sweeter than a store bought. you'll earn a few extra points)

a dozen roses (cliche, if its too cliche, then a bouquet of some other flower. i know sams has a dozen roses around v-day for like $20-30)

go down on her and gift her bomb oral sex

hit up macaroni grill take away afterwards

done and done for like $80

I'll just repost what I posted in a "Christmas Gift" thread last month:

Quote :
"I haven't tried to pick out clothes/jewelry/accessories for a girlfriend since I was in middle school. I don't think I have bad taste, but I know most girls are picky about all that shit, and the chances of me getting her something that she would buy on her own if she had the money are slim to none.

Christmas/birthdays/valentines/anniversaries are easy. All you have to do is LISTEN and OBSERVE. At some point in the months preceeding any special occasion where you need to buy a gift, your girlfriend will mention AT LEAST a dozen things she needs or wants. Or you'll be out shopping with her and see her very interested in several things. Take note of these things...don't mention them again to her...and buy these things for gifts. She will be happy and surprised (surprised because you haven't brought it back up and maybe she's forgotten about it).

Example:

I've been seeing a girl for the past few months. She absolutely LOVES "Three Sheets" with Zane Lamprey. But she can only watch it online with her roommate's computer (because she doesn't have one)...and that's rarely available. So I got her all 4 seasons on DVD. My girl makes jewelry on the side. So I got her a gift certificate to a Beads store here in downtown Charleston where she buys material to make her jewelry. My girl has been complaining about the ipod shuffle a friend gave her a long time ago only having shitty music on it. So I bought her an Ipod Nano and just downloaded a shit ton of her favorite bands on my computer so she can set up her nano on my laptop and have a lot of her favorite music already on there.

No jewelry, no accessories, no clothes...but she'll still be ridiculously happy. She's already got the "Three Sheets" DVDs (was there when I got the package and went ahead and gave it to her), and she went nuts. Gift-giving is really simple for someone who you are around a lot (I still struggle with my mom and sister, who I see only a couple times a year). Just listen and observe.

^All very thoughtful gifts... but for that much money, why not just get her a netbook so she can have her own computer??

As for the topic at hand, is there something that you all do together that you could get for her? Flowers are always a hit, however cliche they may be. IMO, Valentines isn't a big "give stuff day," it's more about spending time together/being thoughtful. I would suggest card (as mentioned above, handmade is good enough), flowers, and dinner or a movie. Three months seems too early for high dollar items like jewelry, etc.

You can't go wrong with underwear either, as long as you get the right size.

I don't get it...netbooks are a couple hundred bucks. I spent a couple hundred bucks and got her three great things that she likes...and she would use a notebook a fraction as much as she's already used the other gifts I got her. I think you're completely missing the point of my post.

And I didn't have to get her all of those things. I've gone through holidays and only gotten a fraction of those things...but this Christmas all of those things were available and I had a profitable year, so I got them all.

What problems?

Would they have gotten her a 16GB ipod to watch videos on? The first generation shuffle blows...ridiculously small memory...you can't pick what song is next...you can't even pick what you're listening to. As opposed to making your own playlists, taking pictures and videos, and just having a shitload of memory (she loves a ton of music).

The only thing a used laptop would have done is allow her to watch videos of three sheets. Instead, she can bring her DVDs with her and watch them anywhere (she's already watched them countless times on her 42" flatscreen...my 42" flatscreen...and the 50" at my mom's house for christmas)...which is much better than carrying around a laptop and hoping that there is internet wherever you can go and then watching something on a tiny ass screen. Then there are the bonus features and just having something tangible there.

I'm not going to buy her first laptop for her...she needs to do some research and pick that out herself.

A laptop is also slightly more versatile than an ipod and a DVD set. I could never be with someone that didn't own a computer though, technophobes make me cry a little inside.

I wouldn't say she's a technophobe...she just doesn't have a huge need for a laptop. She has two roommate's with laptops. She only uses it consistently for email and checking facebook. The last few girls I've dated rarely use laptops or computers. I wouldn't NEED one if it wasn't for my job. I just like to surf the internet too much and download music.

Sorry to have side tracked the thread. Everyone has different needs/desires. I was merely expressing my sentiments about what you had purchased. I'm glad your gf is enjoying your gifts; apparently you know her & her needs better than TWW!

ask her best friend to ask her nonchalantly what her dream gift is. make sure you don't pick a friend with a big-ass mouth, though.

^^ hahah, yeah... and by music, you mean porn.

We always "agree" that we're not going to spend any money on each other besides going out the night of--I.E., I better get a gift for her or I forfeit my license to date. Usually I still go on the "inexpensive but thoughtful" side--stuffed animals when I can find them, little gifts, some jewelry, there's a skin cleanser she has to order online that's sometimes really hard to find, et cetera. Last year I discovered a chocolatier that lives in downtown, former NCSU Philosophy professor, who has a truffle making business that is actually pretty well known in the culinary circuit, and I talked to him for a bit. Normally you can get his stuff shipped online or buy it in Chapel Hill stores, but I ended up taking her to his house (where he cooks and prepares the food) and had a sort of "tour". He let us kind of see how his operation works, let us try some free samples of his work, while also telling us about his "campaign" to bring milk chocolate back from the grave in the gourmet world, all the while preparing the actual assortment that I ordered from him. Nice guy, and his chocolate is, by far, the best I have ever tasted in my life--I mean, it's homemade preservative-free gourmet chocolate, it makes commercial "gourmet" chocolate look and taste like a joke.

But yea, I probably will do something different this year, but I still plan to order her some truffles from that guy. His stuff is slightly expensive, but worth it.

EDIT: Oh yea and the oral sex, that's important too.

he'd better order before he starts going down on her. I ordered macaroni grill takeout once on Valentines Day and it took over 45 minutes.
