No matter what social networks you use, they all become a waste of time after a while. About 3 years ago some high school classmates of mine found me on myspace and later invited me to a party at their house. We have been hanging out offline ever since, so I don't need myspace/facebook/twitter anymore if I want to communicate with them. Most of the other people on my friends lists are either people I don't know, or people who won't talk to me online, but always talk to me everytime they see me in public. Facebook and myspace work great for sharing photos with people though. A better thing to do might be to delete your entire friends list except for the people that you really do hang out with offline and work with a lot at your job.

^Can't you set it so that people can't find you and you can only find them? A friend of mine has this guy on his facebook friends list who works with us, but he doesn't like, so everytime the guy is online that he doesn't like then he told me he does something so that the guy he doesn't like can't see that he is online.
