Hello guys and ladies,
Have a quick question/advice request. I'm having problems with missing keystrokes when typing on websites.
Ie. I'll be composing an email and typing the phrase "Yesterday I went to the store" and it will come out "Yeteday Iwent tothe stre".
When typing in Word docs, Excel, etc, no problems whatsoever.
- Most of the time, I connect via wireless. Although, when I connect via cable, the problem doesn't go away. Wireless speed/response is reasonable.
- No pattern to which letters/keys miss.
- Nothing seems off with Internet speed.
- I have up to date McAfee Security Center. I ran a virus scan - nada. Nothing odd pops up in the task manager either.
- Computer is a Dell 13" Inspiron laptop... like 5 mo. old.
Yes, it took be freaking forever to type this b/c of the keystroke issue.
Thanks

if it's 5 months old, just call dell and get warranty service. you probably need a new keyboard. 1/29/2010 8:06:50 PM |

ok... but why would it work perfectly when typing in docs but not in web forms?
i can do that, but it would seem to me that if the keyboard was the problem, then the issue would show up regardless of online/off.

Whatever # the latest version of IE-32bit. I have Vista and some websites I visit use some flash or something that doesn't work with the 64-bit version that comes with Vista. Pls do not ask me any more about that... I just read that crap on some help site when my pages didn't work. 1/29/2010 8:14:44 PM |

Use firefox/chrome and see if it follows you on those. 1/29/2010 10:38:36 PM |

IE is a load of problems. Better off not using it. You'll thank us later.
/public service announcement
but if i had to guess at your specific problem, id' say some sort of spyware hijacked your browser. 2/1/2010 10:54:39 PM |

i occasionally have a kinda almost similar problem when typing in web forms...except it shows up backwards. it'll type right to left even though i'm spelling things in the correct order. it doesn't do it in word, excel, etc., and it doesn't do it all the time. fun stuff 2/2/2010 11:09:35 AM |

does it do it on the same sites consistently or is it random? 2/2/2010 5:59:00 PM |

k, thanks gents. i'll see what i can do spyware-wise. i'd have assumed my security program would have picked it up but who knows.
firefox works fine but it flubbed on a few sites. but infinitely better than the IE keystroke debacle.
