This is too funny. I thought only Bush could not pronounce simple words, and that Obama is a genius and master orator. As a Navy guy, I find it funny he cant pronounce a simple word like corpsman, and that he did not realize the "P" in corps is silent. Shows how much he knows about the military as well.

"This is too funny."

Pronouncing a silent letter in 1 speech doesn't quite rise to the LOL-worthy level for me. But you may be on to something, maybe he's not the breast or brightest.

red barron, you have to realize if you point out anything O messes up, be prepared for the Bush.

57 states

You would think with the amount of speaking these people do, they would mess up more.

Pretty easy to do when the ones bashing Obama also suck Bush's dick for some reason.

^^ The Teleprompter President meme has zero grounding in reality.

This sort of gaff with the teleprompter, combined with the fact that he took the GOP to the woodshed at that luncheon the other day without the teleprompter indicates that he's actually not all that great at reading a teleprompter.

In fact, almost all of the gaffs he's made have been misreading a teleprompter; not effing up on his own.

And I think we can all relate: reading from notecards makes us all look like morons, while speaking off the cuff is easy if you know what you're talking about.

He didn't take them to the woodshed, he just further distanced himself from getting ANY bipartisan support. The SOTU didn't help either. Keeping patting him on the back Boone, elections are coming.

They aren't mutually exclusive. He probably did both. He took them to the woodshed (in a pretty polite fashion, but...), and so now the Republicans are butt-hurt, so they'll be less likely to help out Obama.

I see this sometimes as a teacher. A petulant kid needs to be put in his place, but doing so will only make him more petulant. It's a conundrum.

And the joke would be on you. He's a centrist.

But I guess that might not matter to you, as long as he has an (R)?

That text showed up on a google search haha. Besides the [no homo] he seems like the kind of Republican that Dems will be up against in the future, which I'm fine with for the most part.

Anyway, Obama can't constantly scold and expect cooperation because there's no principle's office.

Apparently he can't do anything and expect cooperation, so eff it-- scold away.

At very least scolding has the potential to remove some of them from office after they're made to look like children on national TV.

If the Democrats had 100 Senate seats, they would still fuck it up somehow and not pass anything.

Which I said to disregard. They both trended mostly the same until that point. Again, elections are coming and I hope Obama keeps polarising.

I don't think pointing to approval trends from the previous administration like that is going to yield any meaningful analysis. A lot has changed. We're barely a year into this presidency. The economy is going to the #1 issue in 2010, and even more so in 2012. I don't think that will bode well for Obama.

Only when he deserves to be defended.

You brought up a number of invalid arguments against Obama ITT, and when you finally realized this, you just shrugged it off, because your larger point was clearly to help all of us partisan folk to stop blindly following him.

In the face of your incredibly lame arguments, should I have conceded in order to appear nonpartisan?

Hey, this isn't fair. Only Bush can be made fun of for mispronunciations. You can't laugh at a black president for mispronouncing something! It's not his fault. It's the white man's fault because whitey deprived blackie of a fair and equal education and now with blackie as president and mispronouncing words on his teleprompter, we can finally see that what whitey is doing is just plain wrong!

AHA, it is kind of funny cause it's supposed to be like an emotional, profound part of his speech, and "corpsmen" just pops out at you.

I admit that it wouldn't have popped out at me at first because I can never remember how to pronounce military words for some reason. I go back and forth between pronouncing the P. And ninety percent of the time, I say call-ah-nell for colonel.

more apt comparison, ronald reagan approval (red), obama approval (blue). both were dealing with a recession in their first year:

^ Pretty much, the increasing power of the President in the 20th Century and especially since the 1940s has made the President is the face of the State of the Union. Whatever good or ill befalls us, the great masses consciously or subconsciously credit / blame him, regardless of where it belongs.
