Quote : | "Feb. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Tiger Woods will apologize for his behavior, and discuss his past and plans for the future, at a meeting in Florida on Feb. 19.
The announcement came in an e-mailed statement today from the top-ranked golfer’s agent, Mark Steinberg, and his spokesman, Glenn Greenspan.
Woods, 34, has been on an indefinite break from golf since saying he had been unfaithful to his wife. He hasn’t spoken publicly since a single-vehicle traffic accident outside his home on Nov. 27, which was followed by media reports detailing extramarital affairs.
“Tiger Woods will be speaking to a small group of friends, colleagues and close associates at 11:00am EST Friday at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida,” the statement said. “Tiger plans to discuss his past and his future and he plans to apologize for his behavior.”
Woods has obviously taken some recovery steps, Steinberg said in a telephone interview.
“Tiger feels as though It’s time to make amends and to publicly do that,” the agent said.
Steinberg said no questions will be allowed at the meeting. The statement said a pool of reporters would be present." |

I hope this means he is coming back soon. I, too, love to watch the guy play golf and this year's majors are at all the right courses for him.

He is following the old PR formula that everyone seems to buy. Go to rehab and come out a few months later to say I am sorry. 2/18/2010 10:10:12 AM |

u right
It works though. All he needs to do is apologize to his wife and fans and then move on.
Tiger didn't cheat the game of golf, and in the end that's all I give a fuck about anyway. 2/18/2010 10:24:43 AM |

Possible leaked apology, although it def is poorly written:
Quote : | "Here’s the text that’s being leaked of Tiger Woods’ speech scheduled for Friday, 2/19 at 11AM. “Directly to the point there is no one to blame but me for the mess I have put my wife and family through. I accept total and complete responsibility. My wife and I have been trying to work things out but sadly things have not worked out. Again all the blame is upon me. We have decided to live apart with me having mutually agreed upon times when I can be with our children. I know that the world wants all the details of what transpired in our marriage but that is between my wife and I and will remain that way. I have to get on my life and that means playing golf again. I have contacted The Masters and have informed them that my plan is to resume The Masters and they have said that they would welcome me with open arms. For that I am most grateful for I deserve nothing. Finally I want to thank all my fans around the world for standing by me when I let you down horribly. I failed all of you about as badly as a person can. I apologize to everyone of you. I promise all of you that you will see a new Tiger Woods, a better Tiger Woods and I will not let you down. Now I’d like , by the grace of God and with His help, to get back to what I do best and that is playing golf. See you all at The Masters. God Bless you all. Tiger Woods”" |
i think this is pretty much right on with what he is going to say...

pretty much any canned response that includes an apology, accepting blame, and saying he's coming back for the masters or before you can say is his "leaked" response. 2/18/2010 1:40:46 PM |

It is all contrived bullshit written or at least checked over by a PR expert. Still no explanation of what actually happened with the "car accident".

The one thing... if tiger comes back to play the masters, he looks awful. For these apologies' to come off as sincere, he'll have to come back at the end of the year or next year. 2/19/2010 11:55:54 AM |

He didn't sound too confident about playing this year. He said "maybe" but was implied to me through the way he was talking it would be a while still till he got back on the course. 2/19/2010 12:03:19 PM |

well he went through 45 days of therapy already, if he goes through another 45 days of therapy this time around I dont see how he would be able to get back and practice enough to play the Masters or whatever

he's 100% playing this year....that was all part of the marketing twist
if he were to have said "i'm definitely playing" then when he does actually play, we're all like "we already knew he was playing"
but since he said "i'm maybe playing" then when he does finally play, we're all like "WOW! He's playing! I must watch this!!!!!" 2/19/2010 12:18:38 PM |

Quote : | "JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Tiger Woods is back at home after a week of family counseling in Arizona and is trying to get back into a routine that includes golf and fitness, according to a person with knowledge of his schedule.
Woods returned to his home near Orlando on Saturday and has been hitting balls on the range at Isleworth, not far from where he ran his SUV into a tree in a middle-of-the-night accident on Nov. 27 that set off revelations of extramarital affairs.
The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because only Woods is authorized to release information about his schedule, said there is still no timetable for golf's No. 1 player to return to competition." |
