i used to not be a fan of lexington style bbq, and it's still definitely not my favorite. But now that i spend a lot of my summer on the lake in that area i tend to eat it quite a bit. I'm definitely an Eastern style man at heart.

Sort of. I grew up in Greensboro and the bbq styles were all over the place. Eastern style (or something resembling it) in the school cafeteria, western NC at a pig pickin', walking into a restaurant and not knowing which style you'd get. The good thing was that I can appreciate and enjoy both styles though--but I do prefer eastern NC.

If my eastern NC BBQ plane can take off from a treadmill then I will tip the waitress 25%. If it can't I won't tip at all. Western NC BBQ planes are so inferior that they can't even take off at all.

i disagree about this wasteland thing - i grew up in greensboro and the only BBQ I knew there was eastern BBQ. it's what all the volunteer fire departments made for their fund raisers. i don't think i had any other kind of BBQ till I moved out of state for college
