I'm tired of the caprice. It's a great car, just not my thing. If you want to trade for the land yacht that'd be even better but certainly not required.

manual transmission is essential. I am selling the caprice because the automatic and size of the thing annoy me. I've tried to like it because it'll probably run forever and only has 119k on it, but it's just not what I want. It's got the police package with the 5.7L so it goes (and upgraded suspension, cold air intake, lowered, aftermarket exhaust, etc), but I really wanted something like a Miata or 3 series from the beginning.

I AM going to get what I want despite the boy talking me into buying this thing, I have decided.

I don't have a garage, lift, and enough beer to talk the boy into working on a FWD car.

Reading comprehension:
"like a Miata or 3 series"

There are a couple cheap 3 series on craigslist right now, BMW mechanics cost so much people will get rid of them cheap when they need work.

I'm not worried about selling the caprice. People ask about it everywhere I go, just want to get a new car first.

My friend has a 5.0 mustang (91 I think) that needs some cosmetic work. He is thinking about selling/trading it.

I'll have to take pics once it quits raining and get a full list of things it's had done. I know the list includes:
New full system exhaust and cats
New water pump
Lowered (1.5" in the front, 4" in the rear)
cold air intake
transmission rebuilt around 6k ago
remote starter/alarm
aftermarket audio system including amp (the previous owner kept the 2 12" subs that were in the trunk)
new tires shortly before I bought it a year ago, and I've hardly driven it.
locking gas cap (22 or something gallon gas tank)

It was a fire chief's car and only has 119k on it. The only issues are a couple spots of rust (behind the rear wheels and a paint chip on the hood), the speedometer sometimes flickers on and off (extremely common for the caprices, I bought a camaro gauge cluster and just haven't installed it yet), and the AC condenser needs a hole welded shut. It's a sweet car and in good condition for it's age, just not the kind of car I want.

I was going to get Impala SS rims for it (17s), but decided to sell it instead. No use selling it with 2 sets of rims when the new owner will most likely want some 22s.

Define cheap. I have a 1991 BMW 318is that I'd part with for the right price.

I asked and no 318 BMWs. This is getting really annoying. I am tempted to borrow a civic DelSol just to fuck with him. Anyone have a shitty honda I can borrow?

He has a good reason to not like the 4cylinders (don't last as long as the I6s and get about the same gas mileage) but he doesn't care that I HATE looking for a car.

I have told him he has to look from now on, which probably means no new car for me.

get a 1989-94 Nissan 240SX, it light weight for a 4 seater @ 2700lbs, lots of aftermarket parts available for it , and it's reliable w forged crank so u can abuse it. Even tho it old, it got all the important modern things like fuel injection, computer control, 4-wheel disk brakes, it rear wheel drive, alot of them are manual trans, and it got over-head cam. Easy to work on urself. u can go to NICO fan website and buy one or just look in classifieds. Don't get the newer 95-99 one, they're significantly (300LBS) heavier. Don't get a 300ZX, Supra, or anything else everything for it costs 5X as much money and they even heavier. Get the hatchback, it got a much better aerodynamic profile and its as useful as a pick-up truck. U could get a mustang 5.0 but then u'd be a redneck. If ur willing to spend more for performance and willing to sacrifice usability, I recommend a Miata.

Bobby, I can get any car I want. If this was a motorcycle I'd already have one since I do all the work on those myself.

But he'll only do the maintenance if I get a car that's easy to work on and won't break all the time. I'm too cheap to pay a mechanic so I put up with his shit. He has decided that a couple FWD or AWD cars might be ok as well. Considering all the caprice has had done to it and I still want something sportier I doubt I'd be happy with the average POS car anyway.

Hobbit, I think caprices look like shitpiles when not lowered. The first time I parked next to a non-lowered caprice it convinced me I'd never want a stock one. Those mofos have their trunk pointed to the sky.

I saw a miata w/ hardtop on craigslist in myrtle beach for $1000. I bought the hardtop, check craigslist maybe the car is still for sale, I think it was a 1990 for $500 w/ 90k miles. Needs a paint job but I know it runs I thought about buying it but I wouldn't have been able to get it home.

I had to post again about the 4 cylinders versus 6 cylinders. More cylinders = more things to break ... duh. Btw my Subaru has 295k miles on it my peugeot has 199k miles both are 4 both have never need anything more then routine maintain.

Now plz go stick your head in a toilet so I don't have to hear the bs anymore.

you want something sportier than a 2 ton sedan with a "cold air intake"

sounds like you have a few options available...

I was talking about the lowering and stiffer suspension. It also has urethane bushings and some other stuff I can't remember.

You might be one of those idiots that things sporty is just the power to weight ratio, but I'm not since I am considering a miata. It's all about handling, and my car does that incredibly well for it's size. I have a ninja 250 with a full race quality suspension on it and want something similar for my car.

It's actually pretty true. IIRC, my 325i was rated at 23 MPG on the highway and my 318is was rated at 25 MPG. Both e30 bodies. Any difference was negated by the fact that the M42 in the 318is was a pretty high compression engine that took premium gas whereas I could run regular in the 325i. The M42 is a sweet engine though. Much better than I was expecting any early 90's 4 cylinder to be.

cheap = $4k or less depending on condition (I'm not going to pay $4k for one with a bad head gasket or a messed up frame). I'm leaning heavily toward a e36 32x something. I'm in no rush, so waiting a couple months for the right deal to show up isn't a problem.
