I hate to say it, but I really hope they suspend her for the rest of the year, including all postseason play (since she only has one regular season game remaining, and it's automatically at least one game by rule). Even in Men's Basketball, this shit is outrageous.

I don't know this girl, only what I've seen of her from the dunking stuff in the past, but it gives the sport a huge black eye (literally and figuratively). The impression I get is that she is a thug who knows how to play ball. And to be honest, I would look for the real response to come from her coach. If there isn't a serious penalty handed down from her coach and Baylor, then it's basically clear that they don't care about the incident. As a freshman, this is when you either teach her a lesson and she grows up and learns to control her temper, or she realizes that because she is really good (like Chris Paul), she can do whatever she wants and get a slap on the wrist.

It should be a one game suspension. It just seemed to be a quick emotional response to getting the fuck fouled out of her. If it had been some premeditated shit I could see a stiffer suspension.

Anything more is sexist b/c similar shit in the men's game has been taken that lightly (Henderson's elbow to Hansbrough's face comes to mind; although I don't recall if that was quite as blatant as this).

Yes. The intent here was to harm. Henderson was coming down and to me never looked intentional. Maybe he did know Hansborough was behind him so he came down harder than on purpose, but that was during play. This was a "I'm going to walk up to you and knock you the fuck out" choice.

I'm not saying the blonde girl didn't "deserve it", but there's no place for that on the court of a collegiate game. She should be suspended the rest of the season.

I think henderson was fully aware that someone was behind him. Was it as intentional as walking up and round housing someone? No. I don't think either case were true accidents but I do think this one was substantially worse. She swung a closed fist at a girl whose back was turned. That is bottom line dirty. Is she being charged by local law enforcement? It will be interesting to see what suspension she gets.

Not sure how it is in Texas, but it is my understanding that in NC you can't be charged with simple assault for something that takes place during a game, even if it's rec league.

Admittedly, my only experience with that is as it pertains to hockey, so I'm not sure if basketball is the same even in NC.
