Steam will be available for Mac in April. Also, any available titles that you've already purchased through Steam will transfer over to Mac.
I am probably 1 of very few in here that /care

haha, i was trying to figure out what he was saying
I think from what the article is saying is that only the select titles I posted will be available at launch and more to come soon after. But I could be wrong. 3/8/2010 2:53:23 PM |

it would be up to the individual developer to create a mac port of their game. Im sure all the popcap stuff is already there and if valve has ported source, then thats pretty much all their games. 3/8/2010 2:55:50 PM |

I am looking forward to this. It will be fucking awesome! Now when I go to China I won't have to Boot Camp my Mac with Windows 7. 3/8/2010 3:08:42 PM |

So if I bought a PC version and they later release the Mac version, do I have to buy it again? Probably publishers discretion I suppose. 3/8/2010 3:36:21 PM |

I think the activation is handled through Steam and what they're saying is all your licenses will transfer over. IT will be no different then you installing steam on another machine and logging in with your account. 3/8/2010 3:40:20 PM |

Sorry about the first reply - was in a hurry.
I've been hoping for a while that this would happen. I only really play Battlefield 2 anymore and I have to use bootcamp to do so. It would be nice not to have that and it would also be a plus if there were now more games available. Win win I hope. 3/8/2010 6:16:48 PM |

It looks like if you want to spend less than $2000 on a Mac these days you're going to be stuck with an HD4670 or below.

I'm pretty sure anyone that cares about this already has a Mac. 3/8/2010 8:18:51 PM |

I play games all the time on the Mac (via Bootcamp) and they all run perfectly fine. Still not seeing the problem here...I mean it IS a laptop and does have a 9600 M GT 512mb card so its certainly not a top of the line desktop card but at the same time it does quite well, can't complain.
I think you missed the point...those of us that care about this development already play games on the same Mac hardware...but now it can be done bootcampless.

I've run TF2 under Crossover Games and it's ok, the textures were a little whacky at times but it ran smoothly on my 13" unibody MB. Looks like TF2 and L4D will transfer over, plus most of the HL games and Portal 2 when it comes out, so I'll definitely install it for some mobile gaming goodness. 3/9/2010 10:01:46 AM |
