I have a 2005 VW Jetta about 60K miles on it now. Brakes are starting to squeal. Do I need to take it in to stealership or is this a DIY job where I can take off the tire/wheel and clean off the brake disc myself. 3/9/2010 5:36:58 PM |

You will most likely need new pads, and if you wait much longer rotors as well. Cleaning won't do anything... 3/9/2010 5:39:20 PM |

With the VW you need new rotors as well. They are thin from the factory and aren't good past the first set of pads.
I can do this for you, or walk you through it for a TON cheaper than the dealership. Probably 1/4-1/3 of the cost, parts included. 3/9/2010 5:47:58 PM |

^Yeah, this guy knows VW's. You should hire him and watch/help. It is a do it yourself job, but yourselves may vary. 3/9/2010 7:08:40 PM |

Brakes are one of those things that you can't really put on the backburner like wiper blades or muffler bearings. 3/18/2010 7:33:08 PM |
