Ok, I have 2 jobs I need done.
First off, a buddy of mine needs a simple one built for his lawn care company. Nothing fancy, maybe a 2-3 page site, no flash or anything like that. PM me if you want to do this, and I'll give you his #. He pays cash.
Second. I want someone to help me out with my website. I need it search engine optimized. I want it to come up in search engines and stuff like that. When someone types in "Auto Detailing Raleigh, NC" I am on the 4th page. I would also like the site spiffed up a bit, add some pics, fixed anything that should be fixed etc.
I am willing to pay in car detailing, beer, or cash. 3/10/2010 9:13:03 PM |

by and large, SEO is a lie...all anyone can and will do for you is make it good and proper, but that's what should (and may) have been done in the first place...what you really need is traffic
don't you think everyone wants to be on page one? if all anyone had to do was "optimize" their website, then everyone would be on page one...except that there is only a single "page one" per search engine and so they'd all end up being page 2, 3, 4, etc. again

little things can bump your page rank up.
filling out the ALT tags for images helps.
properly naming your pages (i.e mysite.html is bad. Use my-company-sells-cars-cheap.html. Name each page based on content.)
along with making your pages unique, make the title unique as well.
Fill out the meta discription tag uniquely on each page.
Using H1, H2, H3 will give weight to certain words. Use your keywords with them. 6/1/2010 1:10:15 PM |

Another key is having other sites link back to your site, especially reputable sites. The more you're linked to, the better your ranking. 6/1/2010 1:50:25 PM |

not at all...even a dumbass web designer (a term thrown around far too much these days) should have done the things Novicane already mentioned, which is why i qualified the "SEO is a lie" with "by and large"
i mean, no shit that completely ignoring those proper items will reduce a page's search return...but what he really needs is traffic and link backs (as nacstate mentioned)
but hey, Ernie, please educate me...aside from those basic, what-you-should-be-doing-anyway items already mentioned, tell me how this guy's gonna show up on page one of a "Auto Detailing Raleigh, NC" google search...you know, since you know the secret behind SEO juju?6/1/2010 2:14:01 PM |
