Boots is about 16-17 years old. It wasn't until yesterday that he started to not eat, isn't very responsive and just wants to lay down, his meows are barely audible and he's not purring at all. He's really thin now when normally he's a very filled out cat. Earlier today he was dry heaving and walking around a little, but now he just sits down and looks off into the distance or sleeps. I'm thinking his kidneys are failing, but I'm not sure and I'm not thinking about spending a lot of money to keep him alive.
He's lived a good life and if it's his time then it's his time. Should I let him live a little longer to see if he gets better or just let him die naturally? Or would it be best to put him down?

blue? all the euthanasia stuff i've seen was pink. maybe we're not talking about the same thing.
i'd call the vet, tell them what you just told us, and that you want to bring him in and possibly put him down. let the doc check him over just to see if there's anything obvious/easy to fix, just to be sure. you never know. my aunt's cat lived to be 22 years old. 3/15/2010 1:55:50 PM |

take him to the vet. Probably going to have to be put down, but good to have them check first.
There is NOTHING natural about making a pet slowly and painfully die. If the cat was in nature it'd have been killed the second it showed weakness and not forced to suffer for days. 3/15/2010 2:33:42 PM |
