Noah Baumbach's latest (starring Ben Stiller; looks like his Punch Drunk Love)--what's up with this movie? I really want to see it and last weekend Galaxy's website said they were getting it, but then they didn't and then Rialto's website said they were getting it starting 4/2 and then they didn't. Is something up with the distribution of this movie? 4/2/2010 10:43:20 AM |

^ "Are you making fun of the south? Because people down there wouldn't like that...They're stupid enough to go to your fuckin movies...bad start". Also, love how it says "Ben Stiller, Actor, Duplex"

I think I might go see this movie next week (it's showing in Charleston).
Previews looked interesting. I like Ben Stiller as an actor...don't always like his movies....but he's good. 4/2/2010 11:32:09 AM |

Anyone ever seen Heat Vision and Jack? It's an unaired pilot from the 90s that Ben Stiller produced starring Jack Black as an astronaut with a talking motorcycle voiced by Owen Wilson. 4/21/2010 8:02:45 PM |

Showtimes at Galaxy starting tomorrow will be 1:05, 3:50, 7:00, 9:25.
On Doug Benson's podcast this week, he said he really liked the movie but wished that, just once, somebody had popped up on screen and gone "Oh, Greenberg!" when he does something stupid. 4/22/2010 12:01:58 PM |

I don't know about this movie. I saw it, thought it was different, which is nice. The ending was odd.
I would recommend this movie. 4/25/2010 9:34:40 PM |

I saw when it played the Galaxy, thought is was solid, not great. Similar to Away We Go, in that it was very good but had small patches of sheer boredom. 7.5/10

I liked Away We Go more, but I am a real sucker for insanely quirky girls
that and the fact that I feel like I will be Greenberg in 17 years

^which is odd, right?
considering the movie is about a 40 year old.
the Ben Stiller character, and I assume Baumbach to some degree, are trapped in "emerging adulthood." I guess this phenomenon isn't generationally dependent. maybe its just a predominant social paradigm. of course, I could just be a lazy, self-indulgent bum. 10/14/2010 12:42:16 AM |

I also quite enjoyed this movie, and loved Rhys Ifans' performance (very restrained but with a simmering undercurrent of rage). I definitely relate to the curmudgeonly aspects of Ben Stiller's character. The dialogue was generally pretty good as well, I especially liked when Ivan said "youth is wasted on the young" and Greenberg replies "I'd go further. I'd go 'life is wasted on people.' 10/14/2010 12:34:14 PM |
