They never needed to advertise. The place always had a wait and couldn't handle any more customers without physical expansion.

I had heard rumor of The Rockford closing and a brewery pub opening in it's place about 8-10 months ago, but it has been so long I had dismissed it as false.

I wonder what the reason was for closing?

There are a number of reasons why they could be closing even if they are 'busy' all the time. Poor management on the financial end could be one of them for example.

Same thing happened when Hard Times Cafe announced they were going to close. Somebody from TWW called up there and the person who answered the phone said it wasn't true. Then somebody found an article about it. I think in that case we found out that the employees didn't yet know that they were closing

Agreed. It could be because of soaring operating expenses as well. I'm sure rent on Glenwood South isn't as cheap as it was 5 years ago, let alone 15 years ago when The Rockford opened. It may be as simple as replacing a profitable business with a more profitable one. Or maybe the owners are just tired of doing the same thing and want a change.

We need the real scoop.

i agree. it could also be the fact that as more restaurants and bars moved into Glenwood South, the rent on the space had gone up.
