I live just north of Chicago now (hence my stupid long response to the other thread).

Mainly school occupies my time now. In a PhD program at Northwestern. However I also do a fair amount of drinking, bike riding, and traveling.

no, thank god. although, when I was a kid our neighbor was murdered during a robbery and it was pretty messed up. but he was not someone i loved deeply, although he was a chill dude.

technically i am a marine scientist, geologist, and cartographer by training, but i am now i am into a mixture of environmental engineering and the former.

i just started this program (did the b.s. and m.s. at ncsu) so i am thinking it could be as long as 4 more years here. but that's cool. i enjoy being a student a lot actually.

since it is four years away i try not to get too hung up on it, but i would hope for a post-doc followed by some kind of professorship somewhere - nice combo of research and teaching.

^^ok I'm gonna keep thinking just in case, but the first one that comes to mind is from the springtime beerfest 3(?) years ago. We were in Tir Na Nog afterwards and I had kind of overdone it the last 20 mins of the beerfest. I was waiting in line at the women's bathroom (a mile long post beerfest) to puke and I realized I wasn't gonna make it. So I ran over a puked in the sink. this really nice woman and her friend started helping me clean it up. all kinds of shoving it down the drain with their hands. they later explained they were nurses and that was why they didn't care. i gave them a $20 to go buy themselves some drinks and rejoined my friends. 20 minutes later the urge hit again, and fast. fortunately my guy at the time grabbed one of the big plastic water pitchers which i then proceeded to fill while our other friend tried to block everyone's view. we tried to hide the pitcher behind the couch - needless to say that didn't work and we got kicked out. walked down the street to the parking garage, was sitting in the passenger seat and felt the urge again so just kind of leaned out of the car door, put my hands on the parking deck floor and started puking again - at which point some guy we hadn't seen in years walks up and is like wtf? to which i apparently waved and had a normal conversation with him while puking. whew.
