I wont go into details, but because of a sickness, I received an IN for one of my classes last semester.
Im just trying to find the official university policy on IN classes, mainly how long I have to make up the work for the class to be able to get it changed to a grade.

i've been looking here http://www.ncsu.edu/policies/academic_affairs/navigation.php/courses_undergrad but i havent been able to find anything

Isn't it until the end of the next semester? I had a PSY 200 class that I needed to do research requirement for, and I never did. I ended up doing a paper to replace it during the exam period of the following semester.

you can get it extended. there's a form you have to get filled out. I'll look for it, but i've done it before so I know it's possible.

It just requires the instructor to approve it. If he/she doesn't play ball, you're screwed. But I don't see why they wouldn't give you to the end of the summer or fall if you're not gonna be around int he summer. That will at least give you some time to get in shape to do it if you're not already.

Are you really at risk at failing if you don't get it extended? -- I took fitness walking, so i know it's not quite as easy as it may seem. At least not the walking part. But, unless you took it for a grade and didn't do very well, you'd have to do really bad to fail.

You better get this shit extended. I don't know if you have a light case or mono or what, but mono is extremely serious and can affect your physical capacity for months...

Uhhhh, is this a joke?

You got mono and forgot about a class?

And after blowing off the exam, the professor gave you an IN and let you come in months later to do a little fast walking? And this "sucked" to you?

Holy shit, your life must be perfect!

^ No, I took run conditioning during a summer course and the teacher said that the time period wasn't long enough to really train yourself to run, so for the final exam all you had to do was just continue moving and you would pass no matter what your time was.

^let me clarify a few points miss Bridget. The week before the 2 mile test for fitness walking (fall 09) i feel pretty darn sick with mono. Since i was unable to do the exam...or pretty much anything else for that matter (as Netsorm said, mono takes alot out of you for a while), the teacher gave me an IN for the class and said that I could make it up during the spring semester.
I wouldnt say that I blew off the exam, but with work full-time and school full-time..by the time i was fully over the mono, I had pretty much forgot about making up the 2 mile exam.

The part that sucked was going from being a couch potato to having to do the 2 mile test. Believe it or not, its pretty tough to walk that fast for that long...ur practically running.

^i cant say that fitness walking is the easiest PE, but alot of people (including me) do pick it thinking its going to be a breeze. while i wouldnt say its hard, its def ALOT tougher than you'd think or expect

No need to call me "miss," and I won't hatin' or nothing. Just pointing out that you must lead a very charmed life for an unexpected two mile walk to throw you off your game enough to make a thread and talk about how much it sucks.

I mean, I honestly still believe that you've got to be trolling. And again, I'm not tryna hate. I'm just surprised by your ability to have a problem with the fact that your life unfolded in a manner where everything worked out just fine for you.
