Is there any reason to keep the pre-filled http:// in dialog boxes for image and URL embedding? Most people probably cut and paste already, so having the http:// pre-added isn't necessary.

usually when I click in the textbox to paste a URL, it highlights the "http://"

then when I paste the URL it replaces whatever was highlighted

problem solved

My point is that there's no reason for it to be there in the first place. For example, if you post from an iPhone or an iPad, you still have to clear it out.

And that's where you nullified your complaint.

A feature request is "bitching." Do you actually read stuff, or just make up whatever you feel like? Again, you're welcome to gtfo at this time.

Sounds like you're bitching about having to erase the pre-fill. Rather than waste their time on removing the pre-fill, how about you either memorize the usage of the tags or take the 5 seconds and erase the pre-fill yourself. There's more important shit that the site owners can spend their time on.

I see! So because you don't think it's worth changing, you assume you speak for everyone else?

I made a reasonable request to see something changed. There are plenty of people that use iDevices to browse and post, and the pre-filled dialog boxes are a legacy thing anyway.

Look, I get that your primary interest is to troll and show off how smug and superior you are to everyone else. But there are better things that you could be trolling about.

LOL! Really? You're the one who's asking for a feature to be removed because it inconveniences YOU.

You forgot something.

And yet, after all this time with them being around, it's not until now that you ask for this change.

More trolling. My request is reasonable, and your replies are tiresome. Gtfo.

Your request is asking for the site owner to spend his time changing something so irrelevant that seemingly, only you are affected by it. While a "reasonable" request, IMO, it's a waste of time that most people probably won't even appreciate or notice.

And what do you hope to achieve by telling someone to GTFO? Do you really think I give a shit that you don't want me disagreeing with you in your thread. Stop being a bitch.

So the site owners should ignore requests? You said yourself that it would take just a few seconds to change. It doesn't break anything, and enhances the site for use on devices besides desktop computers. I'd think the site owners would be interested in the site being as friendly as possible to a variety of users, and this is a relatively simple thing that would make it friendlier to mobile users.

^ I never said it would take the site owners to change it in a few seconds. I said it takes a few seconds for YOU, the person using the box, the erase. Even seemingly simple changes for websites and what not, aren't always as simple as it seems.

And keeping the "http:\\" in the box makes it more friendly to new users. I can't tell you how often I've seen people on other forums who try to link to images from their actual hard drive. The "http:\\" adds clarity, in that you're not uploading the image from your HDD and you can't host the image from your computer, but rather, the image has to be from a website.

This is a very small "inconvenience' for some mobile users.

This isn't other forums. I swear to god, is there a reason why people have to argue in order to see reasonable ideas implemented on TWW? Shit like this is the reason why TWW code stayed as shitty as it did for so long.

your request is not unreasonable, and merits consideration

for every person who would like to see this happen, there will be an equal number of people who will probably be disgruntled about it.

but it's a very nitpicky issue and i don't see one or the other option as being more "right" than the other. if anything, like merbig said, keeping the http gives somewhat of a visual cue to some users. so i'm not convinced this change should be made

also, please re-evaluate your thoughts on this statement

how about this... just have the http:// pre-selected in the dialog box. That way, someone can just hit Ctrl-V and replace it, if they want. Or, they can click next to it and hit ctrl-V if they want.

gnaw mean??

^^ That was kinda the issue... for mobile browser users, it's not pre-selected. if it were, that'd be something.
