post them here - what do you do to get out of funky/bad/mad/stressed moods?

obviously exercise is the number one solution. but say you're at work or school or just can't drop everything and go for a run - then what?

i'll start w/ what usually helps me:
1. exercise (duh - not always possible)
2. upbeat music
3. making a list of what is bothering me
4. personal pep talk

however NONE of these are working right now!! what else do YOU PEOPLE do? besides drink yourselves into oblivion?

1) running
2) trance music
3) talk to someone who always cheers you up
4) go for a long drive with some soft music
5) go to a place which is calm and happy to you....i used to go to lake wheeler/lake johnson when i was stressed out at state
6) if nothing works, sleep it off

I have nearly 200 pleasant activities on my refrigerator that was a handout in a therapy group I attend. A few favorites are:

-laughing
-reading
-wearing sexy clothes
-thinking about buying things
-having family gatherings
-singing
-saying 'I love you'
-watching kids play
-sex, thinking about sex, erotica, masturbating
-going to the beauty parlor
-lunch with a friend
-knitting
-talking on the phone
-listening to the radio
-playing with animals
-making lists

mine personally are:

- working out (esp cardio or Zumba or yoga/pilates)
- ska music (not all groups though)
- the beach
- drawing
- playing The Sims
- EATING
- watching certain shows/movies... i.e., South Park or Clueless
- playing with my doggies
- RETAIL THERAPY

1) Running until I'm too tired to think
2) Working out while watching crappy reality television, like Jersey Shore or The Bachelor
3) Sunbathing alone by the pool while reading a book
4) Cleaning/throwing things away
5) Power walk around a lake (Lake Johnson in Raleigh, Lake Eola in Orlando)
6) Window shopping at an outlet mall
7) Boating with friends
8) Calling my bff
9) Reading a trashy novel
10) Hanging out with my neighbor and playing with her cats
11) Starting a stupid hypothetical situation thread in chit chat and watching it blow up

Cute shoes and/or underwear always cheer me up
Going to sit somewhere in the sun outside and reading/relaxing
Just driving around when it's nice out with the radio on and the windows down
Cleaning, because of the satisfaction of the end result

yea retail therapy is awesome! and making lists is one of my favorite activities. i don't know why - i'm such a list maker.

i also like to organize my office supplies. i have an unhealthy obsession with office supplies. and i love office supply stores. nothing cheers me up like post it notes and multi-colored paper clips!!!! and the sharpie multi color packs! love them. i just got new sharpies yesterday. <3.

i'm not sure if i classify upbeat music into mood boosters, it certainly can be something that enhances the emotion you subconsciously want to feel

I'm one of those types that never really gets too high or too low, so it's tough for me to relate. I will say that playing with my dog is usually a good way for me to unwind after work and I always feel pretty good after we go for a walk or play fetch.
